  • Get the latest copy of Baby Bargains asap - it'll help you narrow down what you really need & provide reviews on current products: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1889392332/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1889392146&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1EB3X2H6WPMHYVQJ6HBX. We went with a minimalist approach, neither one of us wants a lot of "stuff" that we really don't need in the end. Our biggest items were crib, car seat, full supply of cloth diapers and accessories, stroller (we're opting for a snap & go frame while we still decide what we ultimately should have verses what we'd really want), and a combo dresser/changing table for the best use of space.

  • I 2nd the Baby Bargains book - totally helped me out.

     Top 5 items for me:

    Crib

    Carrier and Stroller

Boppy - I actuallly have 2. One to keep in the LR and one in the BR.

Dresser - I had a changing pad on top. Didn't feel I need a whole other piece of furniture in the room like a changing table

pack and play - I left this in the living room

Swing (one more!) - I actually didn't want one but came to realize it was the only thing that would get him to sleep during the day!

  • Carseat

    Changing table

    Dresser

I tihnk those are the only things i feel are essential...Another piece of advice - getting a comfy and quality stroller & carseat is so important. If DC isnt comfy in those then s/he will complain so much. Looking back I wish I woulda invested in a better quality stroller than spend money on so many other things i coulda lived without (like all kinds of slings, a variety of diaper bags, cute clothes, etc).

  • Definitely get Baby Bargains for brands. We got the crib, dresser/armoire, stroller, pack n play, infant carseat and monitor. We still need to get the swing. I couldn't decide on one. Like love said no need to get a separate changing table. Our pnp has one attached.
  • i must be super ghetto-- when dd was born we only had a pack and play with the bassinet/changing table and some tupperware drawers for her clothes diapers etc. We later got a crib when she needed it (even though for the first 3 months she slept in a play gym on our ottoman.... but we did get a higher end car seat/ stroller/ snap and go. I think it depends on how much space you have and what do you REALLY need. she did not have a swing and she hated the bouncer seat... so all that stuff was not needed- but that is different for every baby.
  • We went minimalist too. Our priorities were:

    Carseat

PNP with the newborn napper and changing table for next to the bed.

    Dresser with changer on top

    Stroller

Crib ( although someone else bought it for us and we have yet to set it up....probably wont for a few weeks)

  • Carseat
    Stroller
    Crib
Dresser (placed changing pad on top)
    PNP

  • Carseat
    Crib
Dresser (with changing pad on top)
    Stroller
    Glider (if you are nursing)

PnP would be the 6th item on my list, because in the beginning, we pretty much only used it as a place to change diapers downstairs.  Even now, it's mostly a place to: (a) change diapers, although she's going to outgrow the changing station attachment really soon; or (b) put DD for a few minutes while I run to the restroom or out to the car.  I think it depends on how much room you have in your place, and how often you might use it when taking DC to the grandparents houses, etc.

  • Cool thanks girls!

  • I'd say.. car seat and stroller are definitely the things to have for sure.  I don't have a changing table but don't find it to be a problem to just change her on our bed.  She sleeps in our room so it is a lot easier, actually.  Other than that... maybe a swing/bouncer, I hear those work great for fussy babies... I haven't used either yet but am sure they'll come in handy one day.  Probably a dresser, or at least somewhere to put all the clothes you are sure to be getting!  HOpe that helps.

  • I think it is different for everyone. The biggest wastes of money for me were a diaper pail, and a changing table. But some may think those are life savers.

    Crib

    Snap n go stroller

    Car seat carrier

A bouncer (Although I would wait to buy this till baby is born. B hated his rainforest bouncer - to many bells & whistles, but loved a simpler one, plus the base of the cheap ones was easy for him to flip over) - Same with a swing.

Snap n go swing - you can attach the car seat right to a swing base.
