Do you make it in a pan? Or do you put it in the over/toaster? Or do you have a sandwich press?
Do you just use cheese? Which type of cheese? Which type of bread? Butter the bread? Stick in a slice of tomato or other veggie?
Just curious my friend and I were having a discussion about this. My personal favorite is ciabbatta with fresh mozzerella and sauteed mushrooms pressed in a pan until gooey and toasted. But DD will pretty much eat anything with melted cheese.
Re: How do you make grilled cheese?
Grilled cheese is awesome no matter which way its done. I've done it in all the ways you mentioned and with various different cheeses and breads. you really can't go wrong!
I love grilled cheese. I usually make it in a pan on the stovetop. (I have done it on the George Foreman grill before) My favorite is wheat bread with munster cheese and a tomato. American cheese with a pickle is good too.
Thanks, DS and I are getting ready to go to the grocery store and I think I'll be making grilled cheeses for lunch!
Oh, man, does that sound good. I love mushrooms. I like to make them with cheddar, but I've also made them with italian cheeses which is awesome. I also like tomato slices. Anything with toasty bread and cheese it good!
I use a skillet and either butter/butter substitute.
teapot, interesting choice. I'm more a place coffee mug on sandwich, stir tomato soup, come back, flip it, replace mug, and carry on kind girl
I shall try the teapot method this weekend
For me or DH, in a pan on the stovetop.
For DS, I just put a slice of cheddar cheese between two slices of whole wheat bread and microwave it. ?It looks nasty to me, but he wouldn't eat it when I made it on the stove and LOVES it from the microwave. ?I think he likes the bread texture to be soft, because he won't eat toast, either.?

make sure to cover the teapot bottom with aluminum foil so the cheese doesn't get on it
why don't you use cooking spray? just curious.
i usually butter 2 slices of bread, slap some american cheese in the middle, and cook on the stovetop. i also love to add turkey or ham. ooh - also, this might sound gross - but my dad makes it on seedless rye, with velveeta, and greys poupon. it is delicious.
That sounds delicious, must try it!
And I am also trying the teapot method.
I butter two slices of whole grain white bread and use whatever cheese I have on-hand. We have a local farm that makes their own cheese so I often try different varieties, like Green Olive Cheddar, Sundried Tomato Cheddar, etc. I grill on the stove in a nonstick pan until golden brown and flip to grill the other side.
We usually just have cheese on it, but I recently discovered it is quite yummy with hummus on it, too. Provolone with garlic & spinach hummus was delightful and DS loved it!
we keep it simple although all the ways sounds fabulous.
butter both sides of the bread, also butter the pan, stick two pieces of american or velveeta in between and grill. keep flipping till both sides are toasty goodness

In the oven with some salsa on it...yummmmmmm
English Muffin bread and velveeta is my favorite. Butter the bread and cook on the stove in a pan. But I'll also finish Adam's when made with Kraft Singles.
I do also love an English Muffin with ham and cheese, bundled up in aluminum foil and baked. That's a great memory of cold winter days from my childhood.
