My MIL brought over a giant pack of jellos for DD. She says jello is healthy because its good for the bones. To me, jello sounds like a load of sugar. Does she know something I dont? Does anyone give DC jello?
I don't think I'd call Jello healthy, but I don't think it's harmful at all.
I think your mom might be thinking of the fact that Jello is made from a substance found in animals' bones. Unless there's some calcium fortified Jello out there, I think she's just confused.

I googled and read that the gelatin is reported by some to be helpful to joint pain or osteoporosis -it is derived from animal bones itself (then processed) but I do not think jello is a necessary food for toddlers by any means. It also has a lot of sugar and artificial coloring.
I have a big problem getting enough protein, and supplemented with a lot of jello while I was pregnant to make sure my RDA was high enough for both of us.

I found this online.

Hmm...I was always told jello was good for you. I hate it so I don't keep it in the house, but DD and DS have it once in a while with fruit in it.
