Contractions! Oh my!

So at about 5 a.m. this morning I woke up in severe pain. I was having ons of abdominal cramping, back pain, and nausea. I thought it could be gas so I took a gas-x and jumped in the shower but the pain wasn't subsiding any. I wasn't bleeding and it didn't feel like my water had broken but I was still really terrified. We waited until around 6:30 to see if the cramping would go down but it didn't so we headed to the OB unit of the hospital. They hooked me up to a fetal monitor and the baby sounded really good but I was having contractions about three minutes apart. They gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop them and just watched me for a couple of hours to make sure the contractions were subsiding. Since my UA came back clean and my cervix was closed they decided to send me home and just told me to keep a look out for any more contractions. Thank goodness I decided to go instead of trying to stick it out at work.  At least everything is okay now!

    that happened to me last weekend. i had to get 4 shots of terbutaline. they did an internal exam and found i was a fingertip dilated and 30% effaced! i also got terbutaline pills for when i need them. im just not sure why i wasnt put on bedrest!

    I am glad you are feeling better and things turned out well! I am afraid that I would go in labor and have no clue. Sounds like it was pretty obvious for you though

    i think im doing better. ive had quite a few contractions today (but they dont last more than 10-15 seconds). ive been taking it easy! im curious to see what my dr. says at my appt. in a week (he was off the day they did the internal exam and i really wonder if hes going to put me on bedrest, his partner was the one who said i was safe to go home). make sure you drink plenty of water, sometimes a little dehydration can set them off, too.
