DD has her 9 month well-baby check-up next week. For anyone who has already been there done that what should I expect? Is the doc going to ask me questions about what she can do in terms of milestones? Also, there are no shots at the 9 month appointment correct? I can't remember for sure. Thanks ladies
Re: question about 9 month check-up...
My doc doesn't even do a 9 month.
We had 6 and then not again until a year.
There seems to be a lot of posts about this today and this week. Lots of 9 monthers!!
Anyway, Samantha was 9 months on Tuesday and we went for a check-up. The did one vaccine (last round of hep-b), and then they sent me to the lab for a blood draw(not a heel prick) to test for anemia and lead levels (we live in a really old house, i don't think this is a standard test).
But, I've seen lots of different answers around here. Some say they don't even have a 9 month check up, others do but they dont get shots.. so I think it all depends on your individual pediatrician. Maybe call them up and ask, so you know for sure.
No shots! Our doctor did a regular check-up (length/weight, checked ears, heartbeat, general anatomy), then asked what questions we had. I always go with a list of topics to discuss so we talked about DS's diet, milestones, and any suggestions she has for us to continue helping DS in his development. A very pleasant appointment because there are no shots and everything checked out great!
ETA: Our pedi also gave us a prescription for a multivitamin/fluoride. There isn't sufficient fluoride in the water in NJ and DS has 4 teeth.
