2nd Trimester

Hairstyle Question...

I have long hair that I just throw up in a ponytail or clip most days. With 2 kids and one on the way I NEVER have time to actually "do" my hair. I am getting it cut next week and want to get it cut short. I've heard that short hair is easier but I'm so scared. I have very thick wavy hair. WDYT? Should I keep it long so I can throw it up and go or should I try to go short????

Re: Hairstyle Question...

  • I never thought short hair was easier.   You HAVE to fix it.  Long hair is great where you can just throw it back!

  • I think as long as you have just enough to pull in a pony tail. Mine is short but I can still pull it back when needed. Im not cutting mine any shorter than sholder length after the baby.
  • When I had short hair I had to style it every day or it looked horrible and it was too short to put up.  With long hair I can throw it up, and go....much easier.

  • It depends how short. Some short haircuts require a LOT of style time to make them look presentable. I'm in a desperate race to grow my hair, so I can throw it in a pony on days I don't have time to do it. My cut right now (severely asymmetrical bob) looks like poo if I don't style it. So make sure you ask the stylist about how long it will take you to "do."

  • I did a A- line bob last year and i loved it. I will be doing it again after my wedding. It was a little above my shoulders
  • Make sure you can still pull it back in a pony tail if you cut it.

  • I have thick wavy hair and found short hair to be more work than long.

The other advice of making sure you can still pull it back is bang on.

this.  Everytime I cut my hair I pray for the pony tail again.

  • As a hairdresser, i can tell you,you do not want to do anything drastic while your pregnant!!!! And yes,you actually do have "to do" your hair when its shorter,so it might be more work. Perhaps you could try a mid length with long layers and a face frame? this way you get rid of some unwanted hair but now it has a style to it and you can also pull it back.... :)
  • I got brave and cut all mine off last year... pixie cut short, like alyssa milano short. I have thick, wavy hair like you and I love it. My hair dresser can thin it out and my whole routine takes no more than 10 minutes. So easy.

I have to admit though, a bob or shoulder length (too short for ponytail) was always frustrating me, especially cause I had to take the time to straighten it.

Good luck. Be brave. It's just hair... it grows back.

  • Short hair takes less time to dry and what not but I wouldnt say it is easier b/c you pretty much have to style it everyday for it to look cute unless you are just completely blessed with great hair and if you are I hate you! lol! Pony tails seem much easier! But in the end you need to do what will make you feel most comfortable and attractive to keep your self esteem up! Good luck!

  • Thanks for the great advice! I will NOT be cutting my hair short now. Probably just a trim and some layers to give it some kinda style because it's so BLAH. My hair is terrible and have to do something. Stick out tongue
