I have a question for all of you ladies. Do any of you have strong opinions about getting the 1st Trimester Screening test done (between 12-13 weeks) opposed to waiting and having the Quad Test done (18-25wks)? The dr. called me and said the difference is that the Quad Test is only blood work and no ultrasound involved. I looked them up online and it said the Quad Test is not as accurate.
I would definitely get the 1st Tri done but this is my situation. I work full time and have full benefits but my health insurance is a Health Savings Account meaning I have a $2,000 deductible. Nothing is covered until I meet that 2 grand. When I move out of NH in 3 weeks (& leave this job with crappy insurance) I will be applying for state insurance in CT and all of this would be free. HOWEVER, by that time it will be too late to get the 1st Trimester Screening because I will be 14 weeks along when I move. If I was to suck it up and pay it will cost me $900 plus another $500 for the ultrasound I never had to begin with for an EDD.
 What would you all do?
Re: 1st Trimester Screening vs. The Quad Test
It depends on why you want to have the screening done. If you want to continue your pregnancy regardless of what the screening shows, I would wait. If timing is of the essence for you, no judgment, than pay for the screening so that you aren't two months further along when you have to make a decision.
