The crib in DS's nursery is just to the left of the door, so when he wakes up he is alway crawling towards the door. We also have a nightlight in the hallway because it would be pitch black otherwise. I am considering closing the door, so DS isn't drawn towards the light when he wakes. What do you do? Is your door opened or closed and why?

Closed. Because the dog and cat would run in there with their tags jingling and wake her up. Also because we don't want to have to be as quiet since she goes to bed before us.
Why are you overanalyzing this?
His door is closed.
His crib is also to the left of the door and he crawls to the door side. He knows thats where I come in to get him. It has nothing to do with light.
I close it for naps and when they go to sleep at night. We open it when we go to bed, so we can hear them if they cry at night. Having the monitor on keeps DH up, and our room is right across the hall so if they cry with the door open we hear them. If we could keep the monitor on all night I'd just leave the door shut all night.
