Baby gift: what are things that you loved having for you kids

I want to make a basket of a bunch of things that are very helpful.  Maybe things she didn't register for or things she wouldn't have thought of.

So far I have:

container for baggies for poopy diapers (to pack in diaper bag),  book on baby care

What did you love having or thought was helpful?  Small to medium things, not the big gear things.

Thanks!

  • Simple things such as diaper rash cream, tylenol, and gas drops.  It always seemed as if when we needed them it was 10 at night and had to make a run to the store, in the beginning.

  • bottle brush cleaner, can of formula (if bottle feeding), burp cloths, bibs, blankies, one piece outfit like sleep and play one- can never have enough, small package of diapers (size 2)

  • Travel sizes of things - butt paste, baby wash & a small washcloth, lotion..

A stash of diaper changing stuff for the car - small lap pad/changing pad, diapers & wipes.

    A hotsling.

If she's nursing, boob pads, soothies, the lactation consultants on speed dial, milk storage bags...  (though this depends how close a friend it is)

If formula, travel formula container w/the dividers so it's premeasured, travel bottle warmer for the car...

  • Those pacifier clips and I just picked up this little paci container so they don't get dirty just thrown in the diaper bag.

  • Gift bags that I give to friends and family

    Cute burp clothes

    Appliques Onesies

    Pacifer holder (clip)

    wet bag for soiled clothes

    cute designer bibs

some plain cute knit cotton pants

  • I would be thinking "things I stuffed my diaper bag with" ... that's what a lot of the suggestions have been so far.  And I second the bottle brush - I still use mine to clean sippys.

  • I also really like the sleep sacks that zipper up (great for winter).

  • Those Aden+Anais blankets that pp posted a link to were on of my all time fav gifts. I saw them for sale at Target last week so you might check there to avoid paying shipping on them.

Bottle brush is good (something I'd forgotten to buy for the baby)

Carseat cover (keeps the kiddo warm and germy winter hands out)

    Swaddleme or Halo sleep sacks

    Tylenol, mylicon, Vicks rectal thermometer

Homedicas sound spa lullaby machine (awesome white noise and projection)

Formula dispenser and formula mixer (get them both at Target - about $4 each)

Car rear view mirror (for seeing rear facing baby)

  • I second the car rear view mirror, and bibs - I like the bumkins ones.

    Also, small teether/rattles.

  • sippy cup leash

those disposable place mats for restaurants

    the mesh feeder

smaller high chair cover (I think FP makes it, our shopping cart cover was way too big for the smaller highchairs. It's $10 at BRU)
