Holy crap.
The area right between my shoulder blades is KILLING ME! It started yesterday, and it was more to the left side. Well at some point in the night last night, it spread to the right side. So now my whole upper back is killing me -- and it hurts to hold my head up. Or look to either side. Or to lay down. I can't get comfortable.
It's going to be a LONG day!
Re: What to do when your head is causing you pain?
I usually take some motrin and then rub some Vicks VapoRub on my neck or wherever and that really helps.
No more monkey sex until you're heled though
I usually go to the HD store and buy myself and my DH a helmet when that happens.
And go to a chiro
Lovin' all the helmet references. You girls are too much.
I took some ibuprofen and hoping that kicks in. Soon.
I don't know a single person that wears a helmet on their bike here. And I know about 14 people that have bikes. Actually, I take that back. I know one who has a crotch rocket and he wears a helmet.
Not that that's an excuse/reason but it is what it is.
I will most likely start wearing it soon though -- it's getting damn chilly while riding!
ok I LOVE riding without a helmet...its a whole different experience. BUT I'm too scared to do it nowadays.
Jodi 4 advils and see if you can see a chiro or a massage therapist. This happens to me on and off and if it last more than 2 days I go to my massage therapist.
I was going to say "Wear a fuckinghelmet". It's probably tension from your LOGICAL brain knowing that you're about to become an organ donor.
DH had something like that--it was a pinched nerve. He had to take 600 mg (3 tablets, more than the recommended amount) of ibuprofen 4 times a day with OTC prilosec (omeprizol). If you need to take a lot of Ibuprofen, try to get some Prilosec, too, because it will tear your stomach up if you take it alone.
The PT also gave him some exercises to do.
You are certain of this huh?! I love when the extremists come out.
Not sure it can be considered extremist when the stats show that roughly 50% of motorcycle fatalities are people not wearing helmets. That was from a quick google search.
Jodi, you know I love your ability to see both sides to an argument, but that just doesn't apply here!
Thank you all for your concern - and I know that's what it is. Even though it comes across as "holier than thou."
LOL! I love it.
Jodi - I couldn't care less if you wear a helmet or not. I'm probably going to start peeing rainbows here in a minute b/c I just can't get riled up about this.
BTW, your neck/back thing sounds like a pinched nerve or something to me. Hope you feel better soon!
No helmet law in CT.
We have insurance (and it was easily obtained).
Yes, life insurance would pay out. It actually only doesn't pay out if you commit suicide --- and that's only in the first 2 years of the policy (they are already older than that). If you off yourself after the 2 year mark, it pays out.
Jodi...not to go all "mom" on you, but this (not wearing a helmet) ranks up there with drinking 8 beers and driving home....
you have your kids to think about....and EVEN if it wasn't fatal....an accident that sends to to the hospital for days/weeks. OR makes it impossible for you to parent anymore because you are wearing diapers....its so not worth it!!!!
I am a safe driver...the only accidents I've been in are 2 weeks after I turned 16 and then last month when I was backing out of a parking stall and hit a car that was flying by......but I have come SOOOO close I don't know HOW many times to hitting a motorcycle....I'd say I've had 10xs more "near misses" with motorcycles than with cars......and because of that, I'd never even think of NOT wearing a helmet.....
just do it...even if you look like a tool. would you let your kids ride a motorcycle without one?
Thank goodness for you not getting all "But I love you and don't want you to get hurt or leave your kids parentless!" with me.
I love rainbows! Love them!
and I'm not holier than anyone...I'm just worried about you...seriously.
shoot, a family friend was riding a bicycle....non-motorized...and flew off, broke his arm in 3 or 4 places...and the ER doc told him 'hey, better your arm than your head....if you didn't have a helmet, we'd probably be changing your diapers...." His arm/shoulder and head were the first things to hit.
I seriously was not trying to come across "holier than thou". I was joking with my first comment since I just read your other post this morning.
I just went through the same pain, but mine is from just starting to work-out. I can get rid of it by stretching while meditating.
I wouldn't let my kids ride a motorcycle! HA! Nor do I let them drink!
And I don't look like a tool damn it -- I have a *cool* helmet.
ok...off my helmet high horse..
about your pain...get a massage...asap. Make whoever does it do it hard.....as hard as you can tolerate. Drink a ton of water before and after and take some advil for inflammation....then rest...don't use your arms too much the next day or two....
If that doesn't take care of it, see a back doctor.
