HCG rising , but no sign of fetal pole

I had an ultrasound yesterday and it only revealed a gestational sac and yolk sac (no fetal pole).  The doctor told me as long as my HCG was <8000 he would not be worried. 

 The doctors office called back and my HCG from yesterday was 19884.  My doctor is concerned that we did not see a fetal pole with my numbers being that high.  My numbers look like they are doubling like they should.  

 Has anyone else had an HCG >8000 but did not see a fetal pole on the first u/s and everything turned out fine?

    Sorry hun. Mine were 48,000 at 6w (that was with twins, so 24,000 with one) and I had a HB so there a chance you could still be fine.

    I'm not sure about the numbers thing but I know that a lot can change u/s-wise in matter of days.  When do you go back?

    I had an Hcg of 8500+ and they didnt see a fetl pole... it all depends on the u/s machine when you are as early as you are.  hopefully everything will be fine and they will recheck you in a couple of days/week.  GL

    I had my first u/s at 6 weeks and they saw the gestational sac and yolk sac, and didn't say anything about a fetal pole.  I didn't have HCG done.  My sac measured exactly 6 weeks and my doc said everything looked good.  Did your doc measure the sac?

    Going back next week (8 weeks) and hope everything is fine.  When are you going back for a repeat u/s?  Best wishes!

    I agree with pp. But also, not sure about the position of your ute. Mine is tipped back making it harder to find stuff.

    Thanks for the responses.  The sac measured 5w3d.  If i ovulated on the August 7th I would have been 5w4d the day of the ultrasound. 

    I am going back on September 8th (Tuesday) for a repeat ultrasound.
