Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Jennerally

I have a very random question for you:

Was your LO born w/a skull fracture?

The reason I ask is because my DS was & I would like to talk to someone who had the same thing happen.

Re: Jennerally

  • No, he suffered an IVH at birth.

But I can talk to you about EEGs, MRIs, seizures, CT scans, developmental delays, head ultrasounds, pediatric neurosurgeons, and the worry and stress of having a child with a head injury.

I'm so sorry to hear about your LO.

  • Oh wow!!! I am so sorry!!! We just had the neurosurgeon, CT & Billy Ruben from the fluid build up. I think he also had a head tube that they drained some fluid from but I didn't see it due to my c/s.
  • Did he have a reservoir inserted into his skull or was it a one time thing?

how is he doing now? did it heal? is he on track developmentally?

  • we can talk about it off boards, if you prefer.

It was a 1 time thing. He is doing great now, he has been cleared by the neurologist. The only thing I am worried about is now he is doing this odd head shake thing. I have called the neurologist & he said as long as his eyes aren't rolling when he does this not to be concerned.

It has healed up, his head size is in the lower percentile, but my family has small heads. Developmentally he is doing great, all the doc's are surprised at how far he is.

    How is your LO doing?

  • I'm so relieved to hear your LO is ok! The head shake thing sounds odd ... maybe it's a tic he'll grow out of.

Dash is surpassing all my expectations. He's slightly behind on some things ... other things, he's right on track for his adjusted age. So all in all, we think he's a rockstar.

Kids have amazing healing powers, no?

  • That is great that Dash is doing good!!!

Kids are amazing. SO used to work at Texas Childrens Hospital and he said that he would see babies that would fall head first down the stairs, off balconies (no idea the backstory) amongst other crazy things. They were all fine. The doc's would say if they were adults it would have been a diff story.
