I posted a few days ago about DH having been sick for a week with on-again, off-again fever, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. It's now been a week and 1/2. He went to the dr. last Thurs. and was tested for strep (in spite of no sore throat) and mono - both negative. Dr. said it must be something viral. Aside from a couple of days mid-week last week where he was feeling poorly all the while, he has mainly had symptoms appear in the late-afternoon (headache, fever, dizziness associated with eye movement) and has been couch-bound as soon as he gets home (not like him). He does alright during the day, but not necessarily perky. He's one to enjoy a couple of alcoholic beverages nightly and has even foregone those. So, the guy's really not feeling well. During the day he is still caring for Cal in the mornings and working in the afternoons (but was out 3 days last week when he was feeling his worst). He is definitely a busy guy with too much on his plate...so I wonder if this is a result of just wearing himself too thin. But WHAT IS IT? I think it's time for him to see the dr. again. The fever nightly is what really throws me. Any ideas?

Re: DH is still sick- getting a little concerned

(hugs) I read your previous posts about this. Is there any way it could be chronic fatigue syndrome? How high is the fever? The headache and dizziness remind me of migranes - has he ever seen a neurologist? I'd definitely seek a second opinion. To dismiss it as viral would not set well with me.
I still squeel piggy flu. ;-(
Well, I don't think our thermometer is accurate. The highest I've seen is 100.73; lowest is 99.-something. I think his normal body temp is actually below 98.6. Migraines...thought of that, but why the fever? CFS...hmmm, no idea about that. Lots to think about.

You too?? I don't remember you replying to my last post. Hmph. Well, I read the CDC lit and based on everything else I read it didn't really seem to add up to swine to me... Plus, his dr. never even uttered the words. You'd think she would if he had classic signs. I dunno.

I think that's considered a low-grade fever (correct me if I'm wrong nurses and docs!). It reminds me of what happens when the body is trying to fight something off. Does he have any swollen lymph nodes? That might indicate a sign of infection (and is also another CFS symptom). I wish I had more ideas for you.
With regards to piggy flu....isn't it a pretty simple test? When DH goes back to the doc (or to a new doc for a second opinion), could he request that he be tested for this just to rule it out?
Yeah, it's pretty low-grade, although the worst night when it only read 100.73 he was burning up - heating ME up in bed, so I bet it was higher than that. Either that, or, as I said, his normal body temp is below "normal," so his 100.73 is someone else's 102 or something. Yeah, when he goes back maybe he should mention he has a baby at home and request a h1n1 test.
