NE1 on medication for nasea?

My OB put me on Promethazine and Metoclopramide.  I'm scared to take it; don't like taking meds.

Re: NE1 on medication for nasea?

  • Oops...generics for Phenergan and Reglan.

  • I am on Zofran during the day and phenergan at night. My RE told me that I ran a far larger risk of doing harm to myself and the babies by getting dehydrated from being sick than the risk of the meds to the babies. At 13 weeks, I still need both almost daily. The big thing with phenergan is it makes me VERY sleepy- I take it only at night and need to be in bed within 20 minutes of taking it. It does work for me though.

  • If you don't want to take them, don't.  But if you are that sick - you may risk being dehydrated.

    And it's anyone and nausea

  • I took them both (plus zofran), and am now on a Reglan pump.

Phenergan will make you drowsy, so I always took it at night. It's class C, but it's used very commonly in pregnant women. Reglan is a class B, and is also used very commonly in pregnant women.

If you're sick enough to need meds, definitely take them. The benefits are greater than the risks.

  • Seriously, extreme problems if all you have to do is correct people's typos.  Unlike you, I'm a nice person, and do not appreciate someone's wise cracks.  Get a life.

you don't know me - you have no idea if I am nice or not.

And I have a very full and fulfilled life, but thank you for your concern!

Listen, I'm not trying to start anything but I'd like to explain why I feel so strongly about using correct spelling and grammar.

I used to teach high school where many students thought that it was appropriate to use "text speak" when they were completing assignments.  I did my best to correct them, but I actually had one student tell me that no one had ever told her that writing in this way was unacceptable.

The more we (as a society) blur the lines between when it's appropriate to use certain words or abbreviations, the more we (again, as a society) are essentially dumbing ourselves down.  Now, I'm not saying that everyone write flawlessly because everyone makes mistakes.  But making the effort to present yourself as a smart, educated person (which in all likelihood you are) in all settings, professional or not, means that people will take you seriously.

That's message I wanted to get across to my high school students, and it's becoming a pet peeve of mine.  Perhaps pointing this out without explanation on a message board was a mistake.  My bad.

  • Listen, if this is not an understanding place for mothers to come and QUICKLY type a question, while their toddler is active...then, this site has lost it's value.  I did not come on here to get a grade on my typing skills.  I'm a busy mother, had a worrisome question.  I won't be back, so need for anyone to judge my graduate degree education, probably more than what most have on here.  Furthermore, what if I WERE uneducated....am I then unworthy for this site?  I would NEVER discriminate upon a person's educational level, nor circumstances.  I can see, though, that there are SOME ladies on here that do not consider any circumstances, but their own.  I'm outta here, I'll call my physician with questions.  She's understanding and educated, at the same time.  BY THE WAY...nice people don't judge or discriminate.  Keep that in mind as you scare nice people away, that might not have your educational level.

PS....NE1 has been used by the ole timers on here for at least SIX years (including The Knot).  I'll try to better my typing skills, when rushed.

  • OMG, who needs to get a life now?  you're being bullied by an internet stranger who is making you gbcft, aren't you?

I didn't judge sweetie, you did.  hello pot my name is kettle.  I simply corrected your mis-spelled words.
