  • Aetna does NOT cover.
  • If you have employer-provided coverage, the coverage will vary depending on your employer.  I have a plan with BCBS through my employer that does not cover pumps, but I know others have BCBS employer plans that do.  Best to call your insurance company to check on the specifics of your plan.

You should call and ask. They often dont advertise it and make you drag it out of them.

  • Aetna does not- they suck.
  • United Healthcare does not.
  • We have AETNA and it is a reimbursable health expense with our Flexible Spending Account.  We had to have a prescription from the doctor also.

  • Cigna - no.  Only if either you or the baby is hospitalized and you are unable to be physcially together.

  • I just called mine and they said it is covered if you've already met your out of pocket maximum, which is $1000...which I am guessing labor and delivery will. So, sweet! hopefully it all works out.

  • I have BCBC Anthem and it was 100% covered. No medical reason required (policy changed April of this year) and I got it before the baby was born. I just needed a script from my Dr. It could be written for any pump I wanted. I chose a Medela Pump in Style Advance.

Just as a side note, I was given a hard time by the pharmacy because it's not usually covered. I just had to stay on top of them and I finally got it.

    Good Luck!

  • I have BCBS Personal Choice and they cover $50 of the cost of the pump.

  • I have Tricare, they only cover it if its a medical necessity and you get a perscription for your Dr. You could always just ask your Dr what they consider a necessity.  Mine will write a script for one if I have latching problems, engorged breasts, or if LO ends up in NICU and I need to pump for that.

  • I have BCBS Federal Employee... they only cover a BP if it is medically necessary & I'll need an Rx from my dr. He's going to write me one. :-)
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
