Delivered Lucas David at 36wk5d. Was on bed rest for a month, due to get off bed rest on Tuesday... didn't make it to Tuesday but darn close enough!
Saturday, August 29th?
-6am: woke up with contractions 5 minutes apart?
-6:30am: water broke (on the toilet but continued throughout the delivery). took a shower (and yes, you can feel your water break/gush during a shower) and packed my hospital bag (of course i wasn't prepared!)?
-8am: arrived at the hospital, 1cm, 90% effaced, contractions 3-4 mins apart.?
-9am: gave me Stadol (pain med in iv) for pain. This was like heaven but only lasted about 30-40 minutes... why even bother. they wouldn't/couldn't give me another dose
-11am: 3cm, 100% effaced, administered epidural. painless experience, relief was instantaneous!
-11am: Administered pitocin
-1:25pm: asked the nurse to check me, felt tremendous pressure like the baby was pushing his way out
-1:30pm: my son was born! pushed for 20 seconds, during 1 contraction. it was the quickest delivery ever! doc gave me a minimal 1st degree?episiotomy
Lucas was born healthy and strong. 6lbs 15oz, 20" long.
Everything has since been pretty much a breeze. Really, I can't complain. Breast feeding has gone well, he's a natural! Milk came in 3 days after his birth, he is ravenous!
Good luck to all you mothers-to-be!?
