PIP: 1st visit w/ LO at my work! (long)

Yesterday, my DD and I visited my office for the first time since she was born. I was pretty nervous about it, since she's only 3mos old (3wks adjusted). Also I work at a corporate office for a large company and there are a TON of people there. But, I really wanted to introduce DD to my work "family" before flu season kicks in and we go into hibernation.

The day before, I sent this e-mail:

Tomorrow from 1pm til about 3pm, (Tuesday, September 1st) I'll be visiting Jack with my baby girl, Savannah! I've been waiting so long to bring her in to meet her Jack in the Box family and I finally think she might be up for the visit. :o)

She's just turned 3 months old (3 weeks old based on her adjusted due date) and as a preemie is still very susceptible to infection. We have been running errands around town together, so she's definitely been out of the house. But, we always take extra steps to make sure she's protected more than usual.

That being said, we'll be taking several precautions as recommended by her doctor and I hope you understand.

--- We'll be heading straight out to the Jack's Jack patio and staying outdoors during our stay. Since I know Savannah (we call her Savy!) will be flooded with loving visitors excited to meet her, it's important that she isn't crowded inside where germs are more easily spread.

--- If you'd like to touch her, you may... however, please wash & sanitize your hands before you come outside to see us! I'll have a bottle of sanitizer in her carrier that I'll ask you to re-sanitize with also.

--- If you're sick, have had symptoms within the last 3 days, or have a family member that is sick, I'll please ask that you not come out to visit us. I'm sure we'll be back and we'd love to see you when you're healthy again!

All in all, the visit went pretty well! We only had one incident of someone touch attacking her before I could get a word out (this was as we were coming in and I was trying not to get bombarded). And then my boss, who thinks he's hilarious, made fun of me by coming outside with a napkin covering his entire face, quarantine style. Ha. Tongue Tied

Funny thing is that everyone came out having washed and sanitized, but NO ONE asked to hold her! I think I scared them. A couple people touched her feet or legs, but she was mostly admired with looks.

  • I can't see the photo? But I know how you feel about bringing the baby to your work place. I first brought Ruby to visit and was nervous too. But my co-workers were a big part of my pregnancy and an even bigger part of my extended pregnancy leave (they donated time to me) so it was a big deal for them to see her. And now she comes at least once a week!
