What can I do with a roast

besides just making a normal roast?  I'm sick of them and we have at least 10 roasts left from the cow in our freezer.  I want to change it up.

TIA.

Re: What can I do with a roast

  • You can always grill one
  • Loading the player...
  • Cut in chunks and make stew?

Crock it and shred for tacos.

  • Change the marinade/glaze?  I always make one peppery and the other sweet.  DH makes his in the crockpot with mushroom sauce.

Oh, and my go to is: soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and cooking wine dumped on top of broiled beef.  So delicious.

  • ...wierd, i was just gonna ask this question...

    YUM!!! thats a great idea.

or you can do beef brisket or braise it in a pot on the stove and slow cook in its juices with pepper/onion/coarsley chopped tomatos and cajun seasoning then it all falls apart after a while and you serve it over rice

I makes tacos out of everything, lol

  • Here are two different ways to make it - I haven't tried these yet, but we have a ton of roast in our freezer, too, and I was looking for something a little different from just a regular roast.

    Jalapeno Pot Roast

    BBQ Beef & Bean Sandwiches

  • Shred it for Beef BBQ

  • OOooohhhh...for some reason putting it over rice with a gravy sounds REALLY good to me right now.  I think I may do that.

But I am saving the rest of these ideas for the rest of the roasts.  Thanks so much ladies.  I would be lost in the kitchen without all of your constant help :)

it is SO good.  it makes its own gravy when you're cooking it too- if it gets too thick you can add in more water or broth.  i learned how to make it when i lived down in the dirty south. you can get really creative and add andouille or smoked sausage, ham hocks, bacon ends and pieces...

Me too. I throw the roast in with a jar of salsa. Then I add some homemade strawberry margaritas. OMG. I'm hating my diet right now. This sounds sooo good.

  • My mom just gave me this recipe yesterday, it is to die for! ?

3-4 lb eye/round roast, 2 cloves minced garlic, 3 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar, 1/4 c. low sodium soy sauce, 2 tsp dry mustard, 2 Tablespoons worcestershire sauce, 1-2 T cracked black pepper

Place roast in crock pot. ?Cut slits on top of roast and place garlic and pepper in slits. ?Mix all remaining ingredients and pour over roast. ?Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours. ?Serve with favorite veggies.?
