Kind of Freaking Out

I was talking on the phone with DH and holding DD on my opposite shoulder. She was lifting her head and looking around but doesn't have total control yet so does come crashing down at times. Well she did that and bumped the side of her head on the cordless phone. She cried for like 2 seconds and then seemed fine. Please reassure mgh to that their heads are strong enough to handle a bump like that.

She took her bottle afterwards and seemed fine. She did spit up a small amount about 10 minutes after finishing her bottle when I was carrying her upstairs but that isn't all that unusual.

Ugh, I hate that I worry about everything!

Re: Kind of Freaking Out

  • She's okay!! Her head isn't strong enough to bang into the phone hard enough to hurt her.

If you're really worried, pay close attention to her behavior. If she can't sleep or sleeps too much, throws up a lot, is extremely cranky or her soft spot bulges or sinks in, go to the ER. But I'm sure she's just fine - just scared herself a bit.

  • Thanks for the reasurance, I am just a giant worry wart...
  • Ditto everyone else.

Olivia has low muscle tone so she used to fall over or bump her head quite a bit (still does).  He head has taken many knocks to it and she's fine.

  • Yup, Savy does this all the time on my actual shoulder bone! She seems perfectly fine, if not a little whiny for a minute or two. They're have pretty resilient bodies on the outside!
  • their heads are made for that.. She's fine. My doc says as long as they don't fall further than their height or don't hit something sharp, or doesn't break the skin, don't worry about it.
