Re: mommy check in

  • 1.favorite kids shows?
The Backyardigans, Curious George, Dora, Diego, Max and Ruby

    2. Labor day plans?
Nothing yet...really want to go to Long Beach but I think it might be too late to book a hotel

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?
Hmm..be a little "cooler" lol...my parents were older when I was adopted and I've always wanted to be the fun/hip mama...stupid answer, I know!

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?
    Thankfully never experienced it...

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?
    10-11 months

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? Neither Jacob or Norah have taken 2 naps...they've always slept at the same time everyday really early on (1:30-4:30-5)

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?
lol...Jake still wears a size 24 month onesie :) they look so much better underneath his button up shirts, I've never really found any plain white shirts in his size either

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?
couple times a month...card night with other friends, movies, dinner, casino, grocery shopping :)

    9.advise on potty training?
ugh..been a long process and mostly my fault, I press it hardcore for a few days and then totally slack off...:( if I could define it in one word, it'd be consistancy!

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?
When Norah was the age in which she was just doing it for fun, we'd sternly say "No!" and thats all it took!

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?
Norah and Jacob have always had separate rooms

  • 1.favorite kids shows?

If he watches anything, just Sesame Street. He doesn't really have interest in TV. Perhaps because I don't turn it on during the day. If we have sports on we let him "watch".

    2. Labor day plans?

    None

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?

More organic and foods with fewer additives and preservatives. My parents were AMAZING role models. I try to parent like my mom.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?

I don't remember this - is this an actual thing?

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?

He'll still eat them if I need a quick veggie for him. But pretty much around a year I stopped buying them.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?

Mine. I think DS is trying to drop it but just can't make it w/ out a short nap in the morning still.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?

Mine too. I was thinking of just putting him in regular t-shirts.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?

Yes - maybe once a month. :-s We usually go to dinner somewhere they take the Primecard (MSFT). :)

    9.advise on potty training?

All the things I've read is just wait until they are ready (show interest, have dry nights, recognize when they have to go etc.). Esp. boys - you can't force it...apparently.

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?

Testing the fact that they learned how to do it. "We eat our food. If you spit out your food, you're telling me you're done. Are you all done?" If I get the all done sign, we get down. If he continues, I get him down.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?

No way. We're remodeling and adding a bedroom.

    12. questions for next week?

How much do you budget for new season clothes for your kid(s)? (e.g. fall/winter).

  • 1.favorite kids shows?  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Backyardigans.

    2. Labor day plans?  Working.  :(  Maybe we'll do a bbq if the weather is decent.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?  Get her into more activities - we did nada as far as sports/classes growing up.  I was a TV junkie and I wish my parents and encouraged me mentally and physically as a child.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?  At 4 months, we'd feed her and do all the tricks to soothe her back to sleep.  I think that's too young for sleep training, plus it's probably a growth spurt so they need extra food/attention.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?  I can't remember exactly, just when she got a few teeth and mastered picking up food/chewing it.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  N/A yet, thank god!!

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?   I never did this.  Mikayla is a hot potato, she'd probably hate all those layers.  We just do a shirt and put a sweater/hoodie on if it's chilly.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?  Maybe once a month or so, my MIL lives nearby and is always eager to babysit.  Our standby is dinner and a movie.  These days that's not very cheap though!  :(

    9.advise on potty training?  N/A.

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?  Don't react, it will pass.  Mikayla used to spit her water out after drinking from her sippy all.the.time and now she rarely does it.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?  N/A.

    12. questions for next week?  Last impulse buy you bought for baby?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? We haven't really gotten into shows yet but I did let DD watch Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow on Saturday. She wasn't very engaged though and mostly just played and looked up at it occassionally.

    2. Labor day plans? Not sure yet. Our anniversary is on Thursday and we were hoping to do something special over the week-end. We couldn't find anyone to watch Kaylin though so we'll probably just plan a family event.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? A lot! My mom was only 21 and a single parent when I was born so things are certainly different in our home.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? We tried having DH go in and soothe her back to sleep but it rarely worked. For the sake of everyone getting more sleep, I would just nurse her back to sleep. At least then she would sleep solid for a few hours instead of just a few minutes.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? Kaylin started to refuse them at about 10 months old when she was starting to eat more solids. So, I stopped making them at that point but still had a bit of a freezer stash. By 11 months, we were done with purees altogether.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  Not really. She started fighting her afternoon naps though so we encouraged her to move to one nap at that point. I think if we would have followed her lead she would have moved to one nap but in the morning instead of afternoon and that wouldn't work for her DC schedule.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? We still wear a t-shirt onsie. I'm guessing we will have to end this habit next year as she gets closer to true toddler sizes. Right now she is in 18-24 months.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? We are TERRIBLE about this. We do have couple time each night after Kaylin goes to bed. The last time we had a true date night was several months ago to go to an event for a couple hours.

9.advise on potty training? We're not there yet. Curious to see the responses though :)

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? So far we haven't had this issue yet... I'll be filing away the responses for future reference though :)

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? We've been talking about this since we started TTC #2. If we do decide to have them share a room, we will wait until the LO is STTN or close to it.

    12. questions for next week?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? N/A 2. Labor day plans? BIL, his girlfriend, her daughter, and our niece are coming to visit from the Tri-Cities. No specific plans so far other than hanging out with them. BIL likes to do homemade cinnamon rolls and homemade pizza and I certainly won't stand in his way!3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Hmmm, that's a good question! I agree with PP about more organic foods. Not that that wouldn't have been important to my parents, but there wasn't much available in a small southern Ohio town 30 years ago! They are great parents and role models for us, as are the IL's.4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? Ah yes, such a joy (insert eye roll here, Google Chrome won't let me use the icons). We got the okay from his pedi not to feed him every time (he was waking up every 1-2 hours some nights). I would try patting him back to sleep, and if that didn't work, then feed him, or if it had been several hours, feed him. Thankfully  the night stuff didn't last too long for us, but we had really short daytime naps for quite a while.5.When did you stop giving dc purees? N/A, haven't started yet. :)6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? N/A7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? N/A so far but I think I'll use onesies as long as possible, I like the way they don't ride up like t-shirts do on him.8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Ha, not very often! I need inexpensive and fun ideas for sure. One idea is to send DS elsewhere (to Grandma's house, in our case) and then have a fun night at home...watch a movie, play board games, cook a meal that's more involved than you normally would, maybe channel your inner Stella.... ;) We also like to go bike riding on the Centennial Trail.9.advise on potty training? Not there yet.10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Haven't had to deal with this yet, but I would do as above and say something along the lines of "Oh, you must be finished" and if it doesn't stop, take food away and get out of high chair. Just spitting is a tougher one, depends on the age I guess. For really little ones ignoring might help, for an older child who's intentionally doing it then there would need to be a consequence.11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? We don't yet, but when we have a second we'll convert the guest room into a bedroom for #2.12. questions for next week?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Kiah~ Discovery channel for kids.

    2. Labor day plans? BBQ at a friends. Relax and get Kiah ready for school.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Structure, schedule, healthy meals, exercise, these are things we are doing that we did not have when we were younger. There are a lot of things like holiday traditions, church, singing, games, laughing, lots of cuddle time.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? I am dealing with the 10 month old wakeful right now and I am not happy about it. I just go give her her binki and lay her back down and walk out. She usually falls right back to sleep but sometimes she cries for a min.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? 8.5 months. She did not want them anymore. My doc gave me the go ahead to do solids.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  Wow that was a long time ago. Um not sure.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? I will use a onsie until she starts to potty train most likely.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Haha that is funny. When we have a wedding, party or something to go to. We really do not have a lot of babies sitters.

9.advise on potty training? We just gave Kiah M&M's and she was potty trained in three days and never had an accident. She even did not wear a diaper to bed. I have a feeling I got off lucky with the first one that I might not be so lucky with Hailey

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Good? I do not deal with that yet.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? They had their own rooms from the beginning. Hailey slept in our room until she was about 4 months.

    12. questions for next week? What are you most looking forward to as the fall approches?

  • 1. favorite kids shows? Old Sesame Street, Little Bear.

    2. Labor day plans? Finish shopping for DH' 30th birthday, maybe go up to Seattle.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Leave him (with my husband, or my mom) for longer periods of time so he gets accustomed to Mommy being gone here and there. I was gone for eight hours on Monday, and he did amazingly well with Grammy.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? I say a prayer it doesn't happen. We have another month to go. I do wonder how Collin will do since he continues to be an uninvited guest in our bed and therefore sleeps a good 6-7 hours a night without waking.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Every couple of weeks, we go out to dinner alone and my mom watches Collin.

  • 1.favorite kids shows? He love Scooby Doo right now.  He also still likes all of the Playhouse Disney and Sprout shows.

    2. Labor day plans? Nothing really!

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? I think I parent differently than my parents but I can't say that I do that consciously.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? I don't remember this at all because Caden starting sleeping through the night at 4 months.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? Around 10 months I think.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? He did it on his own.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? I stopped using onesies pretty early on, probably around the time he started walking.  We don't layer much anymore, just put a hoodie on if he gets cold.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Not too often right now with a newborn, but we probably try for once or twice a month.  I don't have any new and innovative date night ideas.

9.advise on potty training? I will be reading these!  All I have heard is to let the child lead the way, so that is what we are doing.  We have had a potty in the house for about a year now, but he still doesn't show much interest.

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Caden never did this.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? Nope!  Caden needs his sleep and the baby is up way too much for that to work for us.  They each have their own room.  We have thought about them sharing a room down the road when they both have established sleep routines.

    12. questions for next week?

    image
  • 1.favorite kids shows?  Backyardigans

    2. Labor day plans? Ellensburg Rodeo!  Yeeeehaw!!!  :)

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?  I'm the oldest and my mom was VERY strict with me, she was too tired (working full time) when my sister came along and didn't discipline her.  Lesson learned.  Teach your child discipline and respect at an early age.  I would never want my child turning out like my sister.  LoL

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?  Oh the 4 month wakeful that lasted until a year and a half?? That one??  LoL  I sooo regret not letting him CIO a little when he was younger!!  With this baby I'll try and do it before she can stand in her crib because then it just makes it worse.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?  He wasn't into finger food for awhile so he was probably still eating some purees at a year old.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? Pretty much.  That transition was not fun though!  I had to  keep him really entertained so he would stay awake until at least 12:30.  He usually takes a 2-3 hour nap and then goes down around 7:30/8:00.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? Always a onesie.  Either short sleeved with a long shirt or a long sleeve onesie with a t-shirt over.  I don't know why but it grosses me out when babies don't have onesies on?!?  Except maybe in the summer when it's crazy hot.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?  Maybe every other week?!?  We usually go out with our group of friends so not a lot of one on one dates.

    9.advise on potty training?  n/a

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?  Get really annoyed!  LoL  Then I usually take it all away and tell him he's done.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?  No.  We JUST got #1 to sttn most the time.

    12. questions for next week?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? WordGirl (shoutout to Misha W00t!), Word World - way creative.

    2. Labor day plans? Furniture and Car shopping

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Supporting them in their dreams regardless of where reality plays.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? I am in the "Pick your baby up" camp.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? 11 months she was completely done with them.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? Yeah, the morning and afternoon nap kinda just blended together to become one long nap.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? I will do a onsie, but that is because Ella likes to take her diaper off.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? Never. What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Picnic?

    9.advise on potty training? Bribery.

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Hmmmm. Never had to deal with this. Spitting food out, I would take the food away and tell them they are done. Just spitting might be a time out situation.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? My question...

    12. questions for next week? If you are at the cow's milk stage, how much does dc drink a day?

  •  Can I be added to the birthday list?  Jillian's b-day is 10/7/08.

1.favorite kids shows?  None yet.  She is so little that we haven't really watched any.  I know she gets some TV time with her cousin at her grandma's house though.

    2. Labor day plans?  Camping

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?  Going to the orthodontist and dentist.  Seriously.  This would be why I spent 5 years in braces as an adult :(

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?  Do they stop after 4 months?  Mine still wakes up in the middle of the night at 10 months!  I let her fuss a little bit at first to see if she'll put herself back to sleep.  If she is still crying (or very upset) I'll soothe her back to sleep or give her a bottle.  She needs that about 50% of nights.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?  She still eats them, but probably not for too much longer.  She ate those Gerber raviolis for dinner last night and loved that.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? n/a

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? n/a

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?  Pretty infrequently.  We saw the Green Day Concert together in July and then saw the Harry Potter movie.  But we have also been going fishing together on the Puyallup river lately while the in-laws watch the baby.  So while that does not necessarily count as a date night, it is kid free time together.

    9.advise on potty training?  n/a

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?  Usually that means she is done.  I'll wait a couple minutes and try again.  If she spits some more, we're really done.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?  No.  Luckily we just finished adding on a master bedroom so there are now three bedrooms upstairs.

    12. questions for next week?  Where do you like to buy clothes for your LO?

    2. Labor day plans?  Nothing planned yet.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?  Being a sahm.  Parents worked a lot or did other things that prevented them to spend a lot of quality time with me growing up.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?  I would nurse evelyn every single time.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?  Good question.  I would like to see what everybody else writes.

    12. questions for next week?  What are you dressing your dc up for Halloween?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Max doesn't watch TV yet, but I have some: Backyardigans, Seasame Street, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, The Wiggles. I used to nanny and I loved all these shows.

    2. Labor day plans? We have a baptism class that Saturday and then we are going to our family cabin, on the Peninsula, for 5 days. Can't wait!!

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Nothing really. I get to WAH, so I will be able to put M in sports and other activities. I also want to do Co-op Preschool so that I can be involved with his class. I will volunteer in the classroom when he's bigger. But as far as fundamental parenting is concerned, my parents were really great and I am not changing anything.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? Mine...killer, just killer!

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? N/A

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?   N/A

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?  N/A for me, but my friends who have kids  still did the onesie, until the child was potty training.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Right now, not. Hopefully we will start, once Max is taking a sippy cup and eating more solids. Right now, we cannot leave him for more than 3 hours because he refuses bottles/sippy cups and is EBF.

9.advise on potty training? I have some, from when I taught the Reluctant to PT children at preschool. But it's long. If you want it, you can email me.

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? M really loves food. We are actually having an easier time w/solids than I thought we would. So I have no advice at this time.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? N/A But when # 2 comes, yes. Max still shares our room.

    12. questions for next week? For those w/ babies less than one, what is your bed time routine.

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Club House & Backyardigans

    2. Labor day plans? Nothing much just hanging out around the house, maybe have some friends over for a BBQ

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Im not sure I am taking a lot of cues from my mom I think she did a really good job with us.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? We never really went through that

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? Right around a year or so

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  We haven't eliminated it completely yet, sometimes he still really needs 2 naps a day

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?  I have just started using onesies now that the weather is chillier in the morning. I stoped using them in the summer b/c he got really over heated.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? We go to a movie or something once every week or two.

    9.advise on potty training? N/A

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? I stay no sternly and if that doesnt' work I take it away. When he does spit it is usually an indicator that he is full.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? #2 is not on the way YET, but no they will not share a room

    12. questions for next week?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Mickey Mouse clubhouse, Tigger and Pooh and Backyardigans

    2. Labor day plans? Nada yet.  I was thinking of potty training the little Miss but I don't think she's quite ready yet.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you?  Consistancy.  My mom was/is the worst at saying yes then no, then yes again.  It always made me do what I wanted because I knew eventually she'd give in.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down?  At 4mo, I was putting P to sleep in her own crib and when she'd wake up, I'd bring her to bed with us and nurse her to sleep.  BFing in bed was the best EVER.  lol  We let her CIO officially at 6-7mo and never turned back.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees?  When she had enough teeth to chew things fairly well (right around 11-1yr)

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  At about 1yr she went to 1 nap a day.  For the next 6 months, when necessary we'd give her an AM nap but for the most part, she skipped it.  Keeping busy is the key.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt?  I like layering... since we're going to potty train this fall/winter, we'll probably go with tshirts underneath.  Otherwise it'd be onesies.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates?  Very, very rarely.  Maybe 1x every 3-4 months?  Need more date nights!

9.advise on potty training? my question

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth?  Ignore it.  If it happens towards the end of a feeding, it's time to stop... baby isn't interested or hungry.

     11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first?  HELL NO.

    12. questions for next week?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Emma isn't into TV, but she did sit through like 45 minutes of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang :-) I was in heaven!

    2. Labor day plans? We're moving on Sunday, so Monday will just be unpacking

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? This is a GREAT question, but at this moment, I can't think of anything. hhhhmmmm....

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? I had to stick it out. Thankfully Emma's wakeful period didn't last too long.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? We still do sometimes when we're on the road or she's being lazy about eating.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?   yes. She still needs one though depending on what time she wakes up. She eliminated her morning nap around 15 1/2 months. But began sleeping 2-4 hours for her afternoon nap.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? I think it'll depend on the day and what we're doing that day.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Maybe once a month, we definitely need to do more than that. We usually end up at the movies, which is okay, at least one of the theatres is a 1.50 theatre so we get to watch movies for cheap, but I'd like to do something new!

    9.advise on potty training?

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Thankfully we haven't dealt with this yet

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? We don't have number two coming, but I don't think they'll share a room until they're older.

    12. questions for next week? What do you do when DC hits people?

  • 1.favorite kids shows? Wonder Pets, Little Einsteins

    2. Labor day plans?I have to work on Sunday, dh works Monday. Just a normal weekend at our house, maybe bbq.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Nothing specifically.  Dh really wants me home, his Mom worked and traveled with his Dad leaving his sister incharge.

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? Mason didn't sttn until a year old, I would rock, nurse, put him back down.

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? ? Around 9 months, maybe.

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own?  yup, around a year old.

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? Mason wears undershirts, but only under certain things like button up, or polo shirts.

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? Once or twice a month. Nothing exciting, dinner out, movie, rent movies.

9.advise on potty training?Follow them, it's their scheudle not yours. Patience is huge, lots of extra clothes, take them to the potty don't wait for them to tell you when (then it's usually too late).

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Take the food away.

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? Nope

  • 1.favorite kids shows? My favorite or DDs? Because I love Charlie and Lola (Soooooo cute!), DD likes Elmo, eebee, and KaiLan

    2. Labor day plans? Nope, DH is working, I'm thinking about visiting my aunt to get my hair done.

3.What are you trying to do differently with your child than what your parents did/didn't with you? Less TV, not no TV, because I can't expect her not to watch if I don't, but the TV was never off in my parents house

4.How did you deal with the 4 month wakeful? Did you just stick it out, did you let baby fuss in crib and soothe themselves back down, did you pick up baby and rock, sing, soothe back down? Just wait it out, my motto for everything: "This too shall pass"

5.When did you stop giving dc purees? I don't remember, probably 10 months, at some point she just didn't like them anymore

    6. For moms of toddlers, did your DC eliminate their morning nap on their own? Sort of, we're just now dropping the morning nap because we wanted to wait for her to be ready, she's still really fussy by the time we get to the PM nap but 2 naps is impossible to convince her to take

7.Moms of toddlers, for fall and winter do you still put them in a t-shirt onsie as a first layer or a regular t-shirt? We just can't seem to escape the onsies, I keep trying but I feel like she gets a draft without them, also she has very itchy skin and it keeps her from scratching

    8. How often do you and DH have date nights? What are some ideas for inexpensive and fun dates? We used to try to do it once a month but that has fallen to the wayside, we like to take a "mental health" day off from work (like on a Tuesday) and just spend the day together, we send DD to grandma's and we just enjoy each others company, usually we end up going shopping.

9.advise on potty training? We're just planting the seeds right now

10.How do you deal with dc spitting or spitting food out of his/her mouth? Oy! This is a never ending battle in our house, usually we just take away whatever she's spitting, I find that if she is spitting food out she's really not that hungry

    11. If you have #2 coming, will they share a room with your first? We're TTC and no, we moved into our new house so that the next one could have their own room
