I don't think its worth it unless you're going to be in a new hospital or if the hospital has undergone major changes (structural and/or policies) since your last birth. Or if there's been a long gap between pregnancies.
If we didn't change insurance and have to go to a new hospital, we wouldn't have gone on another tour.
Which Kaiser did you give birth at? We're with Kaiser now and toured Oakland and will see the one in WC next week. ?
I didn't do a tour and I'd never been to L&D so I'm going to have to say it doesn't matter. I think it's probably helpful if you have time - just to get the chance to see what it all looks like, picture yourself going through the process, etc., but I don't think not doing it made a difference in my overall experience.
I still got a lot out of seeing the Mother/Baby unit side. Especially when they showed us the NICU and discharge procedures.
eta: I did not like going on the tour at 36 wks pregnant. There were lots of people shoved into one Labor & Delivery suite, tons of walking and I was sweaty & thirsty. Looking back.. no I probably would not have done the tour had I already been to L&D once.

Our first was actually adopted at birth, but I got to be in the room! She was born in at uc davis
If you have free time, it is a nice to do but not required. It is just nice to know where things are so, for instance, if your nurse says she was late with your meds because the pharmacy is so far away and you know it is about 10 steps from her nursing station, you can call her on her BS.

LOL
I stayed in L&D too, but I do plan to do a tour just because we didn't really leave the room when I was in there.
I agree with tiki...if you have the time...do it. If not...skip it.
I visited L&D for bleeding and cramping at 27 weeks, so I thought I didn't need the tour and didn't do it. I actually was a little bummed I didnt do the tour because there were things about the hospital policy that I didn't know that they apparently told the women in the tour. For instance, I couldn't carry my baby out in the hall without rolling her in the stupid cart. WTF? I was yelled at when I came out of the room with her to ask a question, and would have loved to have known that before hand, or maybe thats just stupid me not knowing that that is just general L&D policy. There was something else too, that I remember thinking, man, I guess I should have taken the tour. . .
