How much would you spend on wool?

I am a knitter, and I 100% understand the amount of time and effort that goes into knitting a pair of longies (especially the ones with cute designs on the butt).  But I am still amazed when I see longies like the ones in marbear's post below for $90-100, because I never would have dreamed that people really pay that much.  What's the most you would pay for a super-super-cute pair?  What do you consider a reasonable price, and what do you consider a great deal?

  • if it were a dream pair, custom for me, $50.

  • The most I've ever paid is for a pair of custom colorway hand knit longies made by a Nestie who has an etsy shop.  Even with the custom colorway & shipping they are still under $60.

    Renee is my psychic twin.

  • The most I've ever paid for wool is $50, and that was really a stretch for me.  Ordinarily, I couldn't do anything over 40, and around 30 is really where I am comfortable for longies.

  • I paid $25 for custom shorties and $20 for a custom soaker, both were from ETSY shops run by nesties. I am not sure I would go over $40.
  • Since I knit, I wouldn't pay any kind of $, but I'd try and buy the pattern.
  • Up to $90, if we can wear them all season.  Seasonal, no more than $45-50.

Bargain for me is between $35-40, but I have been known to snatch up $10 ppd deals & FFS.

I also take into account the resell value (ie: I can keep rolling my woolie money over).

I make some of my own too, to offset the higher amount I am willing to pay for customs & OOAKs.

  • the most i've paid is for SBish when there was a coupon code available... for a custom pair of knit longies I agree, probably 50-60 which is about what I paid for my SBish as well.
  • I haven't paid over $20. I try to keep my stash on the more inexpensive side. I refuse to pay over $30.

    ditto this.

    I'm cheap.

  • If you would have asked me a month ago, I would have said $40-$50 range for sure. But then I had trouble finding anything I liked so I got into customs YYMN....and it was $25-$35 for those + I ended up spending about $40 for yarn (several colors) and then shipping is another $4 or so. So when I added that all up it's like close to $100 and they still are just for stripped ones or ones with two colors and an orange pumpkin with matching hat. So now I've really gone into crazy-ville. My new limit is under $100....so $99.99, haha! I refuse to pay anything over that b/c that is just insane!

But like Jenni said, I'll couple it with t-shirts I have for dd and sell it as a set. I know I can probably make close to what I paid for it and "roll over" that money into buying something else that will fit for her in the next size up. At least that is what I'm telling myself....hehe! I've noticed that even at $100, they seem to disappear quick off DS!
