Parenting after a Loss

dumb laundry q

Do you wash pood on items separately?  I was trying to do so, especially because I really feel compelled to add a shot of bleach to the load.  The problem is that it racks up a lot of partial loads of laundry (even with the washer set on small).  Do I need to wash separately?  Do I need to add the bleach?

Thanks!

  • I don't.  I'd have a million little loads if I did that!  I just rinse them out right away (if its a bad one), spray them with shout and throw them in with everything else.  Then I remember which things they were and check them to be sure the stain is out before I throw them in the dryer.

  • I would rinse the item off in hot water first and then wash w/out bleach.
  • I pre-treat and soak, if necessary, clothes with poo. Then I wash those things with the rest of her clothes. I don't use bleach on any baby things.

    Happy laundry!

  • No... if there is A LOT of poop I try to rinse it first though.

    This.

  • I do the same as what was mentioned before - I rinse out clothes with a lot of poop then treat it with dreft stain stuff and wash with the regular stuff.  I make my own laundry soap so I use that and check the stuff with lots of poop before I stick it in the dryer.  I have only had a time or two where something needed to be washed again.  I do was all dd's stuff separate from mine and my H's clothes though - although I typically use the home made laundry soap for everyone.  It's just easier to sort it that way.  I don't sort her clothes into different colors though like I do with ours...I just throw eveything in together.  I have never used bleach with her clothes.  I typically don't use bleach on our things too - except occasionally I do a load of all white stuff and use bleach then.

Also, when I use cloth diapers on her I wash all of those together but separate from her clothes.  And, we use cloth wipes for all poop and those get washed separate (but with the diapers) from her clothes.
