I've been lurking on this board for a little bit and think that this is the best place for this information. We're not very AP for sure (although DD was in our room for about 3 months after she was born). I'm looking into buying a carrier for her, but something that would hold her for a while (we have a bjorn and I used it when she was little sometimes, but now that she's 20lbs it's absolutely killing my back). So what would you recommend? A friend's SIL is using Baby K'tan with her almost 20lbs son, but I just wanted to get a few other opinions. Thanks!
All I can compare to is my wrap sling, which I stopped using around 3 or 4 months, but I love my Ergo. DD is almost 24 pounds at 15 months and I can carry her in it without a problem for hours at a time.
I can't see using a K'tan for much more than 20 lbs. I love my mei tais - for more than 20lbs, I prefer one with padded straps and waist. I also like the Beco if you want something that buckles and the Patapum toddler.
If you like the baby K'tan it is onsale right now at mamabargains.com for 23 when it is orginally like 50 something!! It's almost over so check it out!
I have a Calyx for back carries that is amazing. I use an Angelpack for front carries although we don't do those as often anymore. DS is 23 pounds and he is still fine to carry!
Re: What's the best carrier for an older baby/toddler?
Hey there! I'll let you try out my K'Tan & my Ergo for comparison if you come to my neighborhood sometime soon!
