No offense but....

Does anyone know any other webistes with message boards similar to thebump.com?  I LOVE this site and the boards are great, I'm just looking for some local NYC info... the local New York boards are kinda quiet all the time and I really want to get some info or certain hospitals and drs.

Anyone know another site?

    I know of babycenter.com but I don't know if they have local message boards along with their normal message boards

    Instead of using the bump community boards by topic, did you try "in your area"? ?You can narrow it down by metro area rather than trimester, etc. ?Good luck!

    You can also try the nest.  I'm not in NYC, I'm right outside in the HV area, and I know the HV bump board is VERY slow.  But there are a ton of KU girls over on the HV nest board.  So maybe lurk there and see if there's a population of pregnant ladies over there.  GL

    Hey maybe I'll ask you!  Do you know anyone who has given birth at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola?  I know your from BK but figured its worth a shot.... 

    I tried the "In Your Area" section and went to the NYC and Long Island baby boards but its just me in there... and <<<crickets chirping>>> lol

    I wish I could help but I've never even heard of it! Sad

     

    I am from Long Island and I know that Winthrop Hospital is a very well known and respected hospital,  I am not sure about Labor and Delivery but they are one of the best Heart Hospitals around.  My mom was there and had the best treatment we could of asked for.  Not sure if that helps you but just wanted to let you know what I know about it!  Good Luck

    Unfortunately, I don't know of any "lively" websites that have a forum for NYC locals (other than the bump).  What I would suggest is going on meetup.com if you don't mind shaking hands per se with new mommies..

    you can try mothering.com... the people on there tend to be little "crunchy", but they have boards broken down by region, which in my experience are pretty active  (look under "finding your tribe")

    I live in NYC as well. A great resource that I have found is the Yahoo Groups boards. A lot of neighborhoods have parents groups where you can get a lot of info on area doctors, hospitals, nannies, mom's groups, etc. I live in Brooklyn and have joined 3 in my area- they have been a huge help.

    I've occasional visited the Mothering Magazine message boards. It is under Mothering Dot Commune and their is a section called Find Your Tribe that connects you to people in your area. I've seen a ton of posters fro NYC...

    Also, I will be giving birth at Long Island Jewish in New Hyde Park.  I haven't visited yet, but the hospital has great reviews and I really like my doctor (I wrote about her on my blog, linked below as Queens Mama).  Are you looking for info so that you can choose a hospital or have you already chosen and need more info?  I bet Urbanbaby can help you!
