I have a wedding to go to a few weeks before my due date and I'm dressing up a pretty maxi dress I found with a nice little jacket and some jewelry! I'm thinking it's the only way!! Good Luck!
I don't know if you are boycotting Motherhood---maybe try Target but its hit or miss on if the dress will be dressy enough. Of course it all depends on the type of wedding you are going too. Also I bought a dress for weddings from JCPenney's that was not maternity but it is plenty big enough for my baby bump now---kind of a random find. So you could always try stores like that.
I know this will sound crazy and I know it depends on how big you are at this point (and how big you will be by the time the weddings come around) but I had a wedding 2 weekends ago and ended up getting a non-maternity dress on clearance at Kohls for $10 that looked awesome. It was 6 sizes larger than what I would normally wear, but it made me actually look pregnant and not just fat like a lot of maternity dresses I'd tried. It's worth a shot.
I'm wearing MM today - my cardigan doesn't fit all the way around, my pants keep falling down and my shirt is too short. I should add that I am short, and am carrying small so there is no excuse for this. I refuse to buy anything there ever again. Grr.
I bought a black dress for a dinner event a couple months ago from Macy's. But I think their maternity section is actually the same stuff as at Motherhood.
I'm in the same position as you! I have a wedding to go to on the 18th, and a rehersal dinner on the 24th so I'm hoping for a two for one. Where I can wear the dress to the wedding and the rehersal dinner. Thank God I got a dress for the wedding on the 25th since I'm standing up in it :0)
But I've been looking a lot the past week, and Target online has some really cute dresses. I don't know how dressy you are looking for, but I acutally think I'm buying one from there. I'm not a big fan of MM due to their prices, so Target online is nice. Just thought I would let you know since we're basically in the same boat!

I LOVE their dresses!
edit - oh I don't know if you can order online! Where do you live?
Good ideas, thanks.
