Sleeping babies vs. sleeping toddlers

I don't know about you, but this toddler stuff is WAY harder. He was such a great sleeper till he turned 2.8 years. Then it all went to shiit.

We had to let him scream tonight. It s.u.c.k.e.d.  Please let this phase end soon.

Did you recently change from crib to bed?

  • we took the rail down a long while ago and he's been fine with it. we are getting a new twin for him, but this started way before that.

took to potty training like a champ --- nice and slow and its all been positive.

I think the biggest change has been: we used to lie down with him in our bed for a while before putting him down. but slowly cut the time down and now he goes to 'sleep' (HA) in his own bed.

first he went down ok and got up in the middle of night hysterical. now the hysteria starts beforehand -- not sure if he'll get up tonight or not.

i feel so bad for him

Aw, poor guy. It's so awful when they cry.

The only thing I can thing of is that maybe he is ready for a change? My DD went though something similar, and she was always a good sleeper. Then we converted her crib to a toddler bed, and she was happy and slept again!

    Good luck!

  • I think a lot of Preston's problem is nightmares and growing pains. It isn't every night, but probably 5 out of 7 nights. It will pass.
  • DS is so much more emotional now! he's a little boy with real fears and feelings.  We don't CIO anyway but definitely any nighttime struggles we have are amplified b/c patting him on the back isn't going to work anymore.  It's more complex.  He really does 'need people' (his line Wink).  He's doing better though lately!

In a flash he won't need us at all.  I remember every morning for the past year or so he would come out and cuddle with me first thing.  Now he just comes out and sit on the sofa across from me.  Little by little he's growing up.  It'll be over before we know it.Crying

  • That's it, really -- he's a little boys with feelings now and I think he is just scared :(

but I think the twin bed will be exciting for him -- we'll get train sheets, etc.

he slept all night till 5:30am...not too bad...
