Use firefox as your server.
I will answer your 2nd questions first.
Write the one (or two or three words) you want people to click on. Then highlight it. The go to the complete chainlink in the toolbar (it's 2 away on the left of the tree/pic insert). Copy your url in there,
now for your 1st question:
do the above AND THEN before you click insert, there is another box that asks you how you want it viewed. YOU WANT TO CHOOSE IN A NEW WINDOW.

you have totally enlightened me, elisa. i only knew how to make the link different words by actually putting in the html, which is a big PITA. i can never remember actual code, so i have to look it up every time i want to do it.
