  thats true. I havent colored my hear in over 5 years, so im sure I dont have to worry about damaging it.

  You would look great with red hair.  Not the orange-carrot red and not the vampire blood red.  Get the red like Debra Messing from Will and Grace.

  Do it....you can always go back to brown if you don't like it! 

  More than likely you'll be back to brown within a month maybe month and half with red highlights.  I used to do a red, blond, combo and the red always faded really quick.  I don't recommend it if you are going to spend $$ going to a stylist.  I think a warm golden brown/ with caramel would be pretty.  I have dark brown hair and currently have light blond, ashy dark brown and golden brown.
