Question about the prenatal screening we all had

Okay so my ex boyfriend just text me and told me that he found out he has Hep C and that it probably didnt get transmitted to me because it has to pass through blood.

 OMG I am so pissed!

So I was wondering if you all know if they check for Hep C when they draw all those vials of blood in the beginning.  I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so I am going to talk to them about it and find out, but now im kinda freaking out and am pissed.  

From what I read it says that it can be transmitted to the baby at birth if I had it.  So therefore I would be getting a C-Section cause I would not risk giving that to my baby.

I am fuming...this was the last thing I needed to happen!! UGH!

    I actually never had "all those vials of blood" drawn. When I found out I was pregnant, I had it confirmed with a urine test at a clinic and then got an OB referral. I had some blood drawn at the NT scan but I don't know what al they screened for.

    I would just ask at your appointment.

    I think some of what they test for depends on state laws.  I would just ask your doc tomorrow.  Sorry for the bad news.  That really sucks.  I'm hoping everything checks out fine for you and LO.

    i had all those test done and am pretty sure that it was on there, i just can't remember if it was hep C vs hep A, B.

    that being said every doctor orders different tests. the lab was shocked that i had so much blood work done. so just check with your doc, that's what  i would do

    I would be re-tested just to be sure. If you came up positive for something then you would have been notified of it. Just let him know that you need to be tested for baby's sake.

    I am going to request for a test to be ran.  If I have it, I am going to find him and kill him! Okay maybe not quite, but I feel like I could!!  Thats my baby that could be in danger and I didnt even know about! And hes all nonchalant about it, "oh yeah you probably didnt get it cause it goes through blood, its not that big of a deal" okay yeah it may not be the really bad one, but its my daughters health at risk now in addition to mine! AAAAHHHHH!!!  I havent been this pissed in a long time!  And then I dont know if I should tell my boyfriend about it now or wait until I am tested, he is going to kill him if I do have it!

    I'm Sorry your going through that, try and stay calm till you get tested.

    If Your bf is going to freak then dont tell him till you find out, theres no point to start a fight when this can all be a non issue.

     As for your Ex be thankfully he found out before you had the baby and that he Actually told you so you have time to still do something.

    Sorry...but I would definitely let your new boyfriend know that there's a possibility.  It is a contagious, very serious illness and you don't need to be sharing needles to get it. 

    I cannot fathom keeping something like that from my partner since his health may be equally as affected.

    Hep B is the one that you can transmit from sex.  But Hep C can only be transmitted by blood.  I keep trying to think of any time that his blood would have touched my blood but I cant think of any.  We havent been together for over 2 years, and then we were together for 5.5 years so thats a lot of time to try and rack through my brain.  I plan to tell my BF if I test positive but if I dont then im not even going there, cause there is no point.
