I work at a hospital as a counselor in the inpatient physical medicine unit, mostly with older people. I don't see all the patients, just the crazies or ones that are having a more difficult time adjusting.
I was talking with a patient today and I get ready to leave and she asks if she can touch the baby. And even after I informed her that the baby wasn't moving and that the baby is really low, she still wanted to touch me. I am very thankful she was in bed at the moment and couldn't jump up and touch me! She apparently needs some work on boundaries! I just said bye and walked out of the room.
I don't have any problem with family or friends touching my belly but it is definitely off limits to creepy patients.
Re: Creepy
Oh, wow.
I already have issues with people touching me. Pregnancy is going to be hell if random people just reach out and touch my belly.
I was nice because that is my job, but I really just wanted to say in a very offended voice, NO! and run out of there the first time she asked, the second time I wanted to ask her what part of No she missed the first time and punch her. I don't think I would have had a job if I did that though.
