Just wondering if you guys are still drinking coffee? ?My family dr. told me no caffeine, but my obgyn told me its okay to have it. ?I used to be a BIG coffee/ pepsi max drinker, but cut out all coffee and pop when I found out I was pregnant. I miss it!!! ?
Re: coffee
Too much of anything can be a bad thing. As long as you're not overdoing it, you and baby will be fine.
I was such a heavy coffee drinker pre-pregnancy (I used to work at a coffee shop), that my doctor told me not to cut it all out. Not only would I have major withdrawals, but the baby would be better off with a little caffeine versus the stress. So where I used to drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day, sometimes more, I don't even drink coffee once a week anymore. But I do still drink diet coke, and of course, I cannot cut out the chocolate. And those Starbucks Frappucino's provide a major energy boost at work.
I have a small latte occasionally. Some days, I just need that extra boost to get through the day. Plus I think of the calcium I'm getting from all the milk, since I don't otherwise consume much dairy. My ob said it was ok in moderation.
My doctor said it's fine in moderation, and that he actually recommended it when I have a migraine, since I can't take my usual migraine meds.
I've been ordering a half caf latte every once in awhile, and I have a soda here and there. Today, I was really bad (i.e. I had a migraine) and had both. But I also had about 100 oz of water today, so I'm not too worried about dehydration.
I'm an iced coffee addict! I've switched to mostly decaf and sometimes half-caf, and don't have it every day.
I was told 200 mg is okay and that guideline is most important in the 1st trimester.
During first tri I kept it to 1 coffee per week, and it was 1/2 caf 1/2 decaf. It was a nice little Sunday morning treat.
But I started getting headaches in 2nd tri, and both my OB and neurologist (I have a seizure disorder) actually suggested I have a cup of coffee when I get headaches. They said 2-4 cups per day is fine! I didn't even drink that much pre-BFP.
So now I usually have a small cup in the mornings, and if I get a headache in the afternoons (rare, knock on wood) I'll have another one. I still stick with the 1/2 caf, and it really does the trick on the headaches.

Sipping on a grande Pumpkin Spice Latte, listen to your OB then decide. Coffee keeps things moving for me. I have a cup every morning.
