Babies: 9 - 12 Months

First try of peas...

....major disaster!  The only amount that she actually swallowed was the first spoonful.  The rest was a crying, whining, drooly mess of nastiness...

At one point she even gagged on them!

So the question is, do we try again tomorrow or try something else?  The first time she tried cereal she was messy but she did eat it without fussing.  This time she did more than fuss - she arched her back trying to get out of the bumbo, whined and refused to swallow it - just let it ooze and dribble out of her mouth if she wasn't spitting it out.

TIA :)

Re: First try of peas...

  • Try them again.  It takes about 8 tries of a food before LO really gets a taste for them, whether they seem to like the food the first go-round or not.  Lillian HATED peas and green beans intially but now they are two of her faves.

  • Thanks, we'll try it again tomorrow then.  Where's Cajun's photo of Parker eating peas when you need it?  lol...

Should I try again tomorrow morning or just give her cereal and do peas at lunch or dinner?

  • DD gagged on her peas the first time we fed them to her. I offered them t again mixed with sweet potatoes (her favorite) and she gobbled them up. I just kept doing less sweet potatoes and more peas until it was just peas and she ate the entire bowl :)

This! DS just sat there with his mouth open until they fell out... would NOT even close his mouth!! Hilarious!

He will only eat them if mixed in VERY slightly with other stuff- we're getting there! Keep trying them!
