I keep reading posts on here about feeding fish sticks to LO. I think they're disgusting, personally. What's the draw? Real fish tastes so much better.
No, but everyone in this house hates all seafood. We've tried multiple times and none of us can stomach it. DS has the same reaction as us, even if we don't let him see us try it.
We tried salmon a month or two ago, and he spat it out and started wiping his tongue off with his hands.
I think people like fish sticks because they don't taste like fish. LOL.
I have never eaten one and neither will my DS. From a taste perspective, he might like them, but I don't can't eat chopped-up fish-like product from who knows where with who knows what added to it.
Fish sticks to me are like hot dogs. Ground up meat by products just gross me out.
Missed any OP that may exist.... but, No, I do not give them to DS. I don't consider them to be nutritious. I can only imagine what is in the batter. And no I don't eat them either.
Honestly I don't think they are that "easy" to prepare. I mean, I think you have to bake them in the oven for like 15-20 minutes....they aren't microwaveable. I can think of about 100 other things I could make for DS in 20 minutes or less that would probably be healthier for him so why would I bother with these?
I know DS eats stuff like fish sticks and hot dogs for lunch at daycare sometimes so I try to make his breakfasts and dinners healthier.....although when the going gets tough sometimes this mommy just makes microwaves some frozen chicken tenders.
Hmm, I like 'em. Granted, I haven't eaten one in years, but I don't have any issues with eating fish sticks or feeding them to my DD. I'm sure I will. My mom always fed them to me.
I really like fish sticks I haven't had them in a long, long time, usually we get the whole fish ones when we do, so they're not really chopped up meat-by-products.
I don't like fish, so fishsticks are out to me. But did we need a post patting ourselves on the back for not feeding our child fish product? Did you all want me to start an "good god, why would anyone feed their child cheez whiz when grated organic cheddar is so much better?" thread?
It's beginning to smell like the AP board in here. Kind of like fish sticks.
No. When I was in preschool we were served fish sticks for lunch once. I bit into mine and there was an actually fish tail inside of it. I was traumatized, I haven't gone near the things since.

I so agree! DH loves fish sticks since DD has been eating them. HE finds any excuse to make her fish sticks. He has even got creative about how to eat them, like a fish sandwich or fish tacos!

I just don't get it. "I see people on here all the time talking about the fish sticks they give to their children. Do people REALLY give fish sticks to children?"
No the people talking about fish sticks are planted here so you can call them out and they can say "oh my god, I just looked at the packaging, realized it was gross and am now going to fish my own fish out of my local organic pond and gut them myself! THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATION!"
Dear god, it's fish sticks. What are you going to do when you find your kid passed out drunk in the back of a car?

Stop it! I'm sick! I can't laugh that hard without throwing up.
Re: Do YOU eat fish sticks?
No, and I wouldn't feed them to my daughter either. I prefer fresh from Lake Erie Yellow Perch or Walleye myself.

I make my own. I cut up tilapia or flounder into strips, dip in egg and breadcrumbs and bake for about 15 minutes.
But I do it because it has fewer carbs than the packaged ones, and my husband's diabetic.
This entire thread gets an eyeroll from me.

and I make chicken or turkey fingers the same way. sometimes I get all crazy with it and use rice krispies instead of bread crumbs.

Amen, sister!
Like I said, Lanie, mine has nothing to do with the processed-ness. If it weren't for Matt's diabetes, I'd be all over some Van De Kamp's, myself.
I also have been known to feed my son Velveeta. Yeah. I said it. VELVEETA.
I adore velveeta shells and cheese. I don't give it to DS because it's MINE all MINE!
DS had a ham and cheese quesadilla for dinner. the cheese was a kraft single. except it wasn't even kraft. it was store brand.

Lanie, my precious angel from heaven would never do such a thing.
