Working Moms

Tell me I'm going to survive the ferber process this weekend....please?

Other sleep methods have not worked.  DD does not get enough sleep, and neither do we - she is up 2-3x a night every night, and often sleeps only 7-8 broken up hours at night.  Not enough.

So it's Ferber for us.  I am dreading it.  Tell me I'll live through her screams?  Please.

  • You will, but definitely get his book and read it before starting. It'll help so much.

  • I have it, and have read it cover to cover.  It helped process-wise, but certainly not with my dread of letting her CIO.
  • Once she starts sleeping, you will be so glad! Everyone will be much happier. Good luck!
  • You can do it.  Stay strong and find things for you to do that take 10-15 minutes so that you have something to occupy your wait time in between the times when you check on her.  I would cut coupons from the Sunday paper and then go check, read an article in a magazine and then go check, check my email and then go check.  The first night I just stood outside his bedroom door and went nuts listening to him cry.  The second night I tried doing some of the things I mentioned instead of just standing there and it was a lot better.  With ds it only took 3 nights.
  • I'm a little late but here's how it all went down for us!

Day 1 :he cried an hour and a half (yeah that was hard but we followed the checkin guidelines)

    Day 2 :18 minutes

    Day 3 :3 minutes

    Day 4 he just babbled.

There have been days here and there where he has cried a half hour out of pure exhaustion. But then again, there are more days, like tonite, that he doesn't cry at all.

It worked wonders for us! I hope it went well!
