2nd Trimester

Here's a new question for you!

I'm starting on the nursery this week, and wonder how you ladies are doing the closets. Are you arranging the clothes by size, if so how are you labeling it? Any neat or different ideas? If you have pictures, pls post to. We have sorta a small closet in the baby's room, and need help!!! lol

TIA

Re: Here's a new question for you!

  • LO has a small closet, so I am arranging clothes by size. That is just easier for me, becuase if all the sizes get mixed up I will go crazy!

  • We have a smaller closet, but it has an organizing system in it.  Right now, some of the closet is my maternity clothes.  There just isn't enough room in our tiny closet.

We're arranging her clothes by size/month.  We don't have enough hangers, so we're also using a rubbermaid 3 drawer thing.  I have newborn through 3 months in one drawer, 3-9 in another, and 9-12 in the last one.  We have shoes in each drawer too.

I've seen someone using painted, wooden doorknob hangers to space the clothes.  It was cute, but we just don't have the room.

  • Babies R Us has closet sorters that are pretty cheap that I MIGHT get. I'll try and find the link. I had a friend tie a scarf/bandanna around the closet rod between each size.
  • I haven't even given much thought to the closet yet. Right now, until we get the nursery furniture, all of DD's clothes are just hanging randomly in there.

Ohhh those are cute :) Thanks for the website!!!

  • I will definitely be doing it by size. I want to get an inexpensive closet system (I've heard even Target and Walmart sell the plastic shelving) so that there will be more rows for hanging clothes. imageLike this:image
  • I'm actually only hanging up newborn and 0-3 month stuff.  The other stuff is already in a bag and labeled 3-6m, 6-9m and 12m.  When she outgrows the 0-3, i'll pack them up and then take the 3-6m stuff out and hang that up/put in her dresser.

  • a friend of mine got a gift which was circles cut out with circles inside and then ages written on them to help keep the clothes seperated by age (ex. newborn, 0-3 months, etc).  It was made out of stuff you can buy at craft stores that is fleixble yet strong but I cannot think of the name of it.  I'll probably make some soon so if you want to know more about what I mean, PM me and I'll send a picture.

  • I am buying plastic storage bins to store all the sizes... from what I have found from being a nanny that folding most of the clothes at this point are the easiest and make things faster when changing if they are close by... The closet at this point will be for dressier clothes, toy storage, diaper storage, future or older clothes (to be saved for baby #2)...

As much as I would love to go hod wild with hanging things, I know it isn't a reality (atleast for us!) and the closet will be used mostly for storage (and perhaps a few of my clothes too!)

Though, I do like the tags that are at BRU!!

  • I am going to do it by size. That way when she grows out of one size I can move it out and be onto the next one. Also, I am thinking about putting her dresser in one side of the closet because the bedroom is a little small and it will give us more room. GL!

  • Here's what I did when the kids were little and outgrowing clothes like crazy.  I kept the current size clothes hanging in the closet and under the crib I put one empty under-bed storage tote and one with clothing in the next size up.  As LO outgrew clothes, I put them in the empty tote, and when I need clothes in a bigger size, I pulled them from the larger sized tote.

When the outgrown tote was full, I would put them in the basement storage for the next baby and replace it with another empty tote.  It worked great.
