2nd Trimester

when will you start your nursery?

My dh is going to have to move out of his "man cave" to make it into the nursery.  He is really excited about the baby, but upset about losing his space.  At breakfast Saturday he told me there was no reason to set up the nursery until a week before my due date!  OMG!  I told him I wanted it done by Christmas.  We probably won't start until December since we are not painting.

Re: when will you start your nursery?

  • I would like to have my nursery set up by January.  My shower is not until January anyway.

  • We had it painted last week while we were on vacation since I am not supposed to be around the fumes.
Furniture should be here the latest the end of October and the shower is November 14th. I think that is enough time to get things ready.

    GL!

  • I completely moved everything out of the guest room at 15 weeks. As I buy things (crib, changing table, furniture) I put them in their place.

  • We just cleaned out the room, it is completely empty now. Next week we'll start setting everything up, once he gets back in town.
  • Ours will be done in a few weeks.  We just have to put together the crib, order the mattress, wait for the custom bedding and curtains to be finished, and order a rug.
  • After we know the sex, and yea maybe after xmas as we will probably get alot of nursery stuff as gifts.
  • I am on the fence.  It would be nice to set it up sooner... but since my shower is not until January that is the date I was thinking about.  So I don't know yet really.

Also - yes, 1 week before is too last minute.  The due date is an estimate.. you don't know for certain if the baby will come on that date.

  • My boyfriend is losing what he calls his "Man Room" too. I will probably start getting some things around when we find out the sex at 20 weeks. By about 30 weeks I will start really setting up the room I think

  • DH took the day off and is planning to sand the walls and prime today. He will paint this weekend.  Crib and glider should arrive in October, Iassume we'll pick up the dresser in October and then we'll get some of the accessories.

  • I just ordered the cribs, but I'm not really in any big hurry.  It'll happen when it happens and the babies won't even sleep in their room in the beginning.
  • i am due in January but with the opinions of the docs my baby will be here shortly before or after Christmas ... we are having a large addition put on the house that has not even been started yet ... so i'm going to say we're actually going to start the nursery after the baby gets here
  • We are in the process of moving into my grandmother's house that was left to us grandkids...since nobody lives there and it is bigger than our current home all the grandkids said we could live there (thank goodness!!) So we are going to start decorating asap...plus I just can't wait any longer!! :-)

  • We bought a crib and dresser when I was 16 or 17 weeks. Soon after we bought the glider. So right before we got the nursery furniture, we moved the computer around (as far as right now, we are leaving the computer in the nursery lack of where else to put it). I cleaned everything else out of the room though and we didn't paint because the room is already painted light blue and it's a boy..

I think you will have plenty of time-- as long as you don't wait until a week before your due date! Men are crazy!
I would like to mention that you at least look at cribs now and make sure that where ever you buy from doesn't have a 12-16 week wait because many places don't carry cribs in stock and we were running into this and I was getting worried. We ordered from JCP and it came in within 3 days and we love the set we got! GL!

  • DH is finishing the paint today. So as soon as its dry, we can move in the crib, changing table and rocking chair that are currently in the living room!

I want everything done before my showers in mid october.

  • Our Big U/S is next week so after that we'll order furniture and get the room started. I want to have most of it done before Christmas.
  • Ugg, I would like to have the nursery painted by the beginning of October and then start getting the furniture. We're waiting to get our furniture until we look at the baby expo that will be here the second week of October. I hope we find something we like there, my SIL bought her crib and dresser for $300 all together. So im keeping my fingers crossed. I would like to have the nursery done by the end of November.

  • We just moved into the house, and I purposely kept all boxes and stuff out of the future nursery.  But we haven't done anything yet.  I want to paint, and we need furniture, and decorations.

  • Our goal is to be pretty well set-up by Thanksgiving (I'd like to be done before the holidays get really nutty).

This weekend we're going to shop for furniture and over the next couple of months we'll be moving our office stuff out of the room and starting to convert to a nursery. We're not painting, so I don't anticipate it being an overwhelming project.

  • DH primed the room yesterday (the doors will need the other side done because previous owner painted the inside of the closet...) And then we'll get it painted maybe next weekend, or at least started. Mom and I are making the bedding and the curtains. We haven't started looking at furniture yet.

  • I definitely want everything (or most everything) set up by week 34.

Part of it is that we have two puppies, so I also want to make sure they have time to adapt to the new furniture and I will use that time to get them used to gadgets and baby noises as well.

  • We'll be starting on it (moving the office furniture out and starting to construct the closet) in about two weeks.  I'd like to have it pretty much set up and decorated by Thanksgiving but, if it takes longer that's fine too.

  • probably not until after the holidays. We're moving to a new house Oct 22 (it's being built now) and then things get crazy busy with my shower the end of Nov and then Christmas. I imagine that we'll just toss things in the room in the meanwhile!

  • We started Sophies room yesterday, and im hoping to have it complete by 30 weeks

  • I want all the big things set up by Thanksgiving. We're hosting Christmas so Dec. is going to be a crazy month and if family history means anything I won't make it to my due date - just like every female relative on both my mom and dad's side.

  • We are slowly setting up the nursery as we go. The crib is set up and the rocking chair is in there. We will move what furniture is in there and paint soon.

  • We have been doing things here and there for weeks now. No reason not to get started. I don't want to be huge & tired while trying to get the room together!

  • I "started" a couple weeks ago.  I'm not sure when I'll have it completely finished, though.  I removed anything that wasn't baby-related two weeks ago.  I made closet divider organizers for the closet and hung up the clothes I already had, according to size.  I also have the "dresser clothes" organized (in boxes for now) by size.

This weekend, I am going to paint the walls (with help from my brother and sister in law!)  I am getting the crib tomorrow.  The dresser, which I am getting from a relative, will need to be sanded, painted, drawers lined, etc.  That probably won't happen for a month or so.

I'm probably doing things a bit on the early side but I'm a "planner" and have been in hard-core nesting mode so I can't refrain from working on it!

  • DH already had to move out of his mancave - nursery is painted and molding is up. Furniture is ordered and new carpet is in place.
  • haha! My hubby is being forced out of his man cave too! How funny. He works from home so we bought an outdoor shed thing that is going to be his office.  I am hoping for him to be out of there by the end of September and then we can start gradually setting up the nusary. I want it finished by the end of November in case baby Quinn comes early!
  • My goal is to have the nursery ready by January 1st.  I already have most of the decor.  We have one piece of the furniture so far.  We still need to paint a bit and do the chair rail.  DH has given me the freedom to do the nursery the way I have envisioned and is just going with the flow when it comes to all things nursery.........

  • So funny about the "man rooms!"  DH is losing his, too.  All the pendants and sports memorabilia have been put away to make room for our little good.  Fortunately, he doesn't care too much.  He said he enjoyed it while it lasted!

  • A week before is way to close to the due date. I really wanted to start setting ours up but we have nothing to set up. The room is pretty much empty other than DH's dresser (no space in our room for it) and a bookshelf. I am thinking after our shower when we get some of the stuff we will start. I am due early December and the first shower is in October. So a few months before baby (assuming he is not early). Good luck getting DH out and the nursery set up!
