My dh is going to have to move out of his "man cave" to make it into the nursery. He is really excited about the baby, but upset about losing his space. At breakfast Saturday he told me there was no reason to set up the nursery until a week before my due date! OMG! I told him I wanted it done by Christmas. We probably won't start until December since we are not painting.
Re: when will you start your nursery?
We had it painted last week while we were on vacation since I am not supposed to be around the fumes.
Furniture should be here the latest the end of October and the shower is November 14th. I think that is enough time to get things ready.
GL!
I completely moved everything out of the guest room at 15 weeks. As I buy things (crib, changing table, furniture) I put them in their place.
I am on the fence. It would be nice to set it up sooner... but since my shower is not until January that is the date I was thinking about. So I don't know yet really.
Also - yes, 1 week before is too last minute. The due date is an estimate.. you don't know for certain if the baby will come on that date.

the room we are using for the nursery is currently the office. we are starting to move things out and get rid of stuff to clear out the room. after the big u/s we are going to order crib/furniture and go from there.
We bought a crib and dresser when I was 16 or 17 weeks. Soon after we bought the glider. So right before we got the nursery furniture, we moved the computer around (as far as right now, we are leaving the computer in the nursery lack of where else to put it). I cleaned everything else out of the room though and we didn't paint because the room is already painted light blue and it's a boy..
I think you will have plenty of time-- as long as you don't wait until a week before your due date! Men are crazy!
I would like to mention that you at least look at cribs now and make sure that where ever you buy from doesn't have a 12-16 week wait because many places don't carry cribs in stock and we were running into this and I was getting worried. We ordered from JCP and it came in within 3 days and we love the set we got! GL!
DH is finishing the paint today. So as soon as its dry, we can move in the crib, changing table and rocking chair that are currently in the living room!
I want everything done before my showers in mid october.
Our goal is to be pretty well set-up by Thanksgiving (I'd like to be done before the holidays get really nutty).
This weekend we're going to shop for furniture and over the next couple of months we'll be moving our office stuff out of the room and starting to convert to a nursery. We're not painting, so I don't anticipate it being an overwhelming project.
DH primed the room yesterday (the doors will need the other side done because previous owner painted the inside of the closet...) And then we'll get it painted maybe next weekend, or at least started. Mom and I are making the bedding and the curtains. We haven't started looking at furniture yet.
I definitely want everything (or most everything) set up by week 34.
Part of it is that we have two puppies, so I also want to make sure they have time to adapt to the new furniture and I will use that time to get them used to gadgets and baby noises as well.

I "started" a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure when I'll have it completely finished, though. I removed anything that wasn't baby-related two weeks ago. I made closet divider organizers for the closet and hung up the clothes I already had, according to size. I also have the "dresser clothes" organized (in boxes for now) by size.
This weekend, I am going to paint the walls (with help from my brother and sister in law!) I am getting the crib tomorrow. The dresser, which I am getting from a relative, will need to be sanded, painted, drawers lined, etc. That probably won't happen for a month or so.
I'm probably doing things a bit on the early side but I'm a "planner" and have been in hard-core nesting mode so I can't refrain from working on it!
