QOTW:

1) Do you see just one doctor for all of your appointments or do see all of the doctors in the practice throughout your pregnancy? If you see more than one, do you feel comfortable with this? Or do you feel like the doctors don't really get to know you and whats going on with your pregnancy?

2)  Updates? How are you feeling? Anything you're looking forward to this week?

Re: ** Central PA Moms-to-Be Check-In! **

  • 1. At the practice I go to, they rotate you thru all of the doctors. There are certain ones that I feel more comfortable with others since I have seen them more often. I understand the idea behind it, since they don't know who will be there when you deliver, but... at the same time, I don't think its the best idea. I just feel that the doctor(s) seeing you should "know" you better. I feel like some of them never even look at my chart before seeing me for my appointment. Others are pretty good and I don't feel like I have to tell them my complete history.

    2. I was told last week that my u/s showed a good cervical length - good news! BUT, now they want me to have another u/s tomorrow to check the blood flow in the umbillical cord (not sure why). Looking forward to my 30wk apt. and u/s tomorrow. I think I'll feel more at ease once I know why they want to check this and that everything is OK. I've been feeling pretty much the same... I finally got the wrist braces to wear at night. WOW! What a difference! I can actually sleep again! No more waking up every hour with pain in my arms/hands :-) I made a new discover the other day- I tried to wear my sneakers for the first time in months (I've been sporting flip-flops all summer!) I could not wear them!!! They were so tight on my feet. Had my foot measured on Saturday and some how I've gone up a whole shoe size!!! I'm so bummed, I'm scared to even try some of my other shoes. Don't know if this will change or not after the baby is born, but it's a good excuse to buy some new shoes!!!

    1) There are 3 Doctors in my practice and we see all of them throughout the pregnancy. I don't feel uncomfortable with this. I'd rather see them all because you'll never know which one is going to be there when you deliver. I'd rather this than seeing a midwife every time and meeting the dr once (which I've heard a friend of mine saying is what they do at her practice).

    2)  Been better. Trying to figure out if the little one bruised my rib or cracked it. I've been having horrible pain in my rib for about 3 days...I'm just too stubborn to call about it. haha

At my OB's office, I rotate through all of the doctors in the practice. While I've seen some more than others, I feel comfortable with this overall. Yes, they don't know me as personally as just one doctor would, but I do feel that they are aware of my history and I feel comfortable with them all so far. I'd rather meet them all and see them several times the go into delivery nevver having met them before.

At my perinatologist's office, there is just one doctor. This is awesome because she knows me, allows me to email her, etc. However, a downfall is that it is just her. On Friday when we went we waited and waited after doing the ultrasounds to find out that she wasn't even there because she was at the hospital with a patient. She did call me later and we discussed things, but it wasn't the same. So, this is a downfall but to be expected with one peson.... so I'm glad I have more than one OB.

Overall, feeling good compared to in the past! My cervical length is good and I haven't had any contractions in awhile. The placental bleed has also resolvevd. However, I traded that for something new - my amniotic fluid is measuring higher than it should. Thankfully my peri thinks this is due to carbs and fruit (nothing wrong with baby) so now I'm following a diet similar to the GD diet.... it is kind of frustrating. My sugars were really low at my GD test and yet I have to limit it. So far, it has left me feeling light headed and weak so I'm still trying to work it all out. I see the OB Wednesday, hopefully they'll have some ideas.

Anything for this little one though! :)
