Skin Care Recommendations?

I'm totally a skin freak... I've had to retire all my goodies (salicylic acids/retinoids) and now I'm stuck with plain old Dove soap and I cannot find a moisturizer.

Anyone find a good cleanser, night time moisturizer, and day moisturizer they can recommend?

Now my skin feels a bit drier and more dull.

Re: Skin Care Recommendations?

  • I'm a total skin freak, too, and am sooo ashamed at how much I have recently spent on skin care...

I use Philosophy's face wash... it's the microderm scrub.  I love it... gentle exfoliation every day, and it gets my skin superclean.  No sal. acid or anything like that in it.

For a toner/ makeup remover, I use La Prarie's cleansing water... it's a miracle product... it takes off eye makeup, too!!

Night cream, I use the Chanel Sublimage line.  The moisture in it is sooo amazing!  Go to a Chanel counter and ask if you can try a sample of the line.  It's ridiculously expensive, but one jar will last from 9mos to a year.  That's what I keep telling myself, at least...

Day moisturizer, I use the Chanel Beaute Initale day moisturizer with SPF 15 in it.  Once I run out, I'm going to switch to a plain sunscreen that I will use along with the Sublimage.

My Chanel consultant (who has become a friend... she's giving me her doppler!!!) has a 10 month old, and has given me wonderful suggestions on retaining facial moisture... I might end up using an intense serum in my 3rd tri and after Charlie gets here...

    Good Luck!

(I sound like such a skin care addict!!)

  • Mine won't stop breaking out! I look like a dang 15 yr old.... ugh!!

Burt's Bee's just came out with some new blemish products that have a natural source of sal acid from willow bark.  I am going to pick some of that up after work.

  • I had to retire my old skin care products as well. I've been using medical grade Obagi system for years and swear by it. A lady I know who has been an esthetician for 20+ years recommended a line called Rhonda Allison to me and so far I love it.

The line isnt too expensive, but may be hard to find depending on where you live. Her website lists locations of spa's that carry it.

Willow bark is the natural source of salicylic acid, but it's still salicylic acid, and related to aspirin. If you're trying to avoid salicylic acid, you could try products with tea tree oil as an alternative.

  • I just got back from the dermatologist today because I am having terrible breakouts and dry skin. Turns out I have peri oral dermatitis brought on by pregnancy (lots of itchy red bumps and pimples around my chin area)..Anyway he reccomended Dove soap unscented and CeraVe moisturizer.  You can get it over the counter its a little expensive but he swears its the best moisturizer, it renews the natural protective function or something!  Good luck!!
