Are you going to be taking a birthing class? If so, what do you find most important to know? How far along are you going to be when you start going? I know the bump says 14 weeks, but just wondering others thoughts.
I am not taking any classes...maybe breastfeeding towards the end..prob not though..Just me..I have heard from friends that lamaze and all that really do nothing for you when you are in labor..so I am not wasting my money
We are taking a birthing class. I just want to learn more about the process of birth and the medical options I have during labor and delivery. We are taking our class at 33 weeks. It is a day long class on a Saturday.

Yes, I'm taking a birthing class. It's one offered through my OB and is given by their resident doula/breastfeeding coach. I'm most looking forward to the hospital tour and talking with her about how to formulate a birth plan. I'll be 30-34 weeks during the class.
I will try to take one with DH. Not sure what all I really expect to learn or what they all cover, but just want to feel more comfortable with the birthing process.
I won't be able to take the class until my 3rd trimester as we are in the process of moving out of state in the next 2 months. I'm also hoping the class will take us on a hospital tour or something since this will be a new place for us just having moved.

Im taking a class set up by the hospital im delivering at. Its called Third Trimester class. It talks about a range of things from birthing options to how to handle a new born. I thought with this being our first it would be a good idea to take some sort of class. I'll be 28 weeks when the class starts. That way I'll be done before Thanksgiving and Wont have to worry about holiday stuff getting in the way.
I'm going to ask for recommendations of natural birth classes at my next dr appointment. I want a med-free birth, so I'm a little more concerned about classes than if I were just going to get an epi & call it a day. I have a feeling my yoga breathing techniques are going to be pretty valuable - it helps me a lot at the dentist for pain management.
I am and will be starting next week (25 weeks). I want to know all my options, especially for pain relief besides epidurals, and the hospital tour. My hospital recommends signing up for them during your 15th week and taking the series sometime in your sixth month.

I'm signed up for a breast feeding class and child birthing class. I'm taking the breast feeding class when I'm about 30 weeks, and the birthing class when I'm about 32 weeks.

Ours start at week 32, that's when the hospital recommends we start. It's a 5 week class, meeting once a week for 3 hours a night. It covers childbirth, breast feeding, baby first aid and newborn care. By doing it we also get a tour of the labor & delivery and are set up in the "VIP" program, so when i do go into labor DH can drive us right to the front door and leave the car, he's very excited about that (free valet parking). Our insurance is coving most of it so i'm all for it.
I'm a second time mom, but I would highly recommend a birthing class. Try to see if you can do something through your hosptial that may be a bit more generic. We took one when I was bout six or seven months along (not sure why the bump recommends 14 weeks. . .maybe that is when you sign up for one?) It was a great experience for DH and I - especially DH. I think it made DH more confident and although we'd done a lot of research, I think it really helped to fill in the blanks. We got to see a lot of the instruments they use and how things actually happen in our hospital.

14 weeks for a birthing class?!? Maybe you meant 24...
I'm planning to call this week to sign up. I figured we'd take it somewhere around 24-28 weeks.
