At my appointment today I had gained 3lbs so far in this pregnancy and I asked him if that was enough b/c I am really not that hungry half the time and have to force myself to eat. His response, "Oh no, it's plenty for you. When you start out above your ideal weight we recommend you only gain about 5-10lbs total."
Okay, number one, I am a size 10! I am an average person - not super skinny, but not what I would consider overweight. I'm 5'4 and have DDD boobs that weigh a ton themselves. I'm sure the "medically" ideal weight for my height is something like 120lbs, but I do not remember ever weighing that much. My personal ideal is about 145lbs...that's when I've looked my best and been most physically fit and even then I was a size 8.
Number two, everybody in DH's family has 8-10lb babies...even if I had a 7lb baby, how am I supposed to only gain 10lbs the entire pregnancy?!? That does not even seem possible!
GRRR!!! Okay, sorry, vent over.
Re: Oh, another reason I'm considering switching (Dr. Comment)...vent.
sadly most doctors say these insensitive things about "overweight" pregnant women... i'm definitely one of them but i'm lucky that my last doctor never said anything to me about it... plus, i've lost a total of about 15 lbs since i've been pregnant (as of 12weeks) and i'm pretty sure i'm continuing to go down...
but if you feel uncomfortable, i would DEFINITELY change doctors...
Okay, thank you!!! LOL I was like TEN pounds!?!?! Is that even POSSIBLE? I had set a personal goal of trying to keep it to 25lbs through exercise and eating as healthy as possible throughout the pregnancy. I thought that was a reasonable goal since most women I know gain somewhere around 35-40lbs.
Hello, Is Bella going to be her first name? I decided on Isabella for first and Mia as middle. Just being curious, hope you dont mind?
Did you mean to post this here? I am not sure, sorry! I don't know what I'm having yet, so not sure of any names.
