I didn't expect to have a c-section...but once I got 9.5cm dilated...he was "sunny side up" and I couldn't push him out.  I was disappointed at first, but healed very quickly.

I'm butting in too!!  Labor was painful as expected.  But I was most surprised by what the heck afterward.  I read so much about the 40 weeks and delivery, and then what happens with the baby, that I didn't know what to expect for me.  There was a lot more bleeding for a couple of days than I ever thought.  Very painful, even when breast feeding (you contract when he latches on at first!).  And just sooo exhausted.  I never thought it would be a 20 min process to go to the bathroom to then clean everything, spray numbing stuff, tucks pads, etc.  Oh yeah, and your first BM...not so fun!

Good parts - I didn't realize what an involved part DH would have.  I thought he would just be holding my hand, but there were times when the nurse was getting something and DH was holding both legs while I was pushing.  It was a pretty cool experience.  I also didn't know how much I would love T right away.  I was overwhelmed with emotion and could not stop crying.

The worst part was once I had the EPI and couldn't get out of bed...couldn't roll over even..my legs were useless...I hated that feeling, but loved not feeling contrax.

My FIL is watching our LO...they live 5 minutes from where I work.  This is my second week back to work.  Last week was very hard to leave him,...but this week is better.  And I can easily go visit on my lunch break if I feel the need.

The first month was rough...up probably 2-3 times per night...but ever since 7 weeks old he's been STTN, goes to bed at 9pm, wakes up between 5:30 and 6am.

I breastfed the first month or so, then pumped and gave him breastmilk the next month, we supplemented with formula at night b/c it stuck with him longer so he could sleep better.  We are doing all formula now that I'm back to work and pumping was such a PITA!!!

We use Born Free bottles and LOVE them! You get one 5oz bottle free if you register at BRU.

We go to sleep about an hour after he does...so we're getting about 7 hours of sleep.  He's a good sleeper! I hear that's not so common.
