Last week I was posting about how my DH's 2nd SA came back with the following #s: Count - 135million, Volume - 1.8mL, Motility - 52%, WHO Morph - 30% and Kruger morph - 4%.
I was worrying about the morph but was confused b/c the Kruger # can be highly variable b/c of different labs. I told some of you I'd follow up after talking to my RE.
So I saw him this morning and asked if he thought this was a problem and he shook his head, said "nah"...he said "that's like a B or a B+...but it's still in the normal range." I asked if we needed to treat that and he shook his head again. He didn't seem to think it was an issue - however we did not get to fully discuss b/c it was just an a.m. monitoring appt. and I needed to have a consult anyway.
I have the consult tomorrow so I'll let you know if I get more info.

Re: MFI Ladies - F/U On Last Week's Morph Posts
Wow, this is all just so weird. I'm glad he doesn't seem concerned...but it is just so confusing. My RE said DH's morph was below normal at 9% Kruger...and when it hit 4% (the lowest) there was real concern. That's when we went to the urologist. She wasn't very concerened with his 9% or 7% but when he told her it had been as low as 4%, she started to wonder..
Hopefully more of your questions will be answered tomorrow! This is just so overwhelming..
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
My husband's morph was 1% using strict criteria. My RE said it was concerning, but not enough to cancel down IUI. Some doctors (from what I've read) are starting to believe that morph is not as important as it was once thought to be. My RE said that just because the sperm are not shaped correctly, does not mean the genetic make up is not correct.
Glad to hear your good news!!!
You should stop worrying about the morph numbers. You have an awesome base count.
I would have killed for 135 million when we were doing treatment and I ended up PG on a Hail Mary cycle anyway. Good Luck!
Does a Hail Mary BFP mean you got pg w/o treatment? Congrats! Maybe the count is why the RE wasn't concerned.

I think it really depends on the lab. I have read in my places that at certain labs no one ever gets close to 14% and the average is 4-5% - Dr. Liccardi from NYU's blog is one example. Also - some Dr.s think that abnormally shaped sperm can still fertilize an egg. I think the bottom line is the jury is out on how important morph is. Some REs will tell you to go straight to IVF - others will tell you it's not an issue. It is baffling.

Thanks! We were doing two break cycles before moving to IVF after bad counts for three IUI's. The last IUI count was 500,000 (which was cancelled-it was an injectable one too-ugh!) if that gives you any hope. The others were 3 million and 3.5 million total motile. DH's original SA count was 13 million motile. So it can happen with lower counts. 135 million is fab so keep the faith!
I'm glad that you ladies are having this discussion. My husband has low morph. as well. It started out at 0% and now after his varicocele surgery (three months post-op) it was at 1%. We go back for another follow up in November so see what his next SA results will be. If it matters to anyone, he had 353 million total and 178 million total progressive motile (52% motility). It's all so confusing because while the urologist is encouraged about the results of the first post-op SA, other things I've heard are discouraging. I made an appointment with an RE today anyway for December. That way we will have a few more months to try and will have the second follow-up with the urologist under our belts.
Assembly: It's so good to hear about your success. I've really started to lose hope lately. Congrats!
If the count was low, then I would be concerned, but the count is really high so I don't think you need to worry.
