Anyone switch providers in 2nd Tri?

I am considering making an appointment the midwife at our other hospital (I work where I'm delivering) who gets rave reviews from staff and patients. My current doctor began seeing me through my miscarriage earlier this year and for this pregnancy. He is nice, but he is just so matter-of-fact and he makes me feel like I can't ask a lot of questions. I mean, when I do he answers them, but I guess I just feel like he gives me very basic answers and is not very engaged. He makes little to zero eye contact with me, and I think that more than anything is the problem b/c it makes me feel like he is not interested. I am a very open, affirming communicator (lots of head nods, smiles, uh-huh) and I always find it hard to communicate with people who are stone-faced. I just don't know if that's a good enough reason to switch 16 weeks in or if I should just suck it up an stick with him.

For those of you who have, was it a big ordeal to switch doctors? Do you feel like it was the best choice for you in the end?

    I had to because of insurance reasons. ? It wasn't a big ordeal at all. ?They sent over my chart, lab results, etc. and just picked up where I left off.?

    I love the doctor I currently have.  But DH and I are changing insurances and my doctor does not take my new insurance.  I plan to change doctors and change hospitals (did not like the old hospital anyway) next month. 

    I don't think it's a big deal to change... especially if you are not high risk.  I say go for it.

    I switched.  I was not very impressed with my dr or the hospital I would have been delivering at.  I love my new hospital and I LOVE my new OB.  He is great.  He talked with me and my husband for at least 20 min and I'm sure that's longer than my prev dr spent with us on all prev appt combined.  If you aren't happy I would switch.  It'll be sooo worth it.

    I switched from a Dr. to a midwife in 2nd tri for insurance reasons, but now I'm super glad I did.  They schedule 45 minutes for each appointment to be sure we have enough time to talk about anything I need to.  Yes

    I also made the switch from a doctor to a midwife because I just didnt feel the doctor was all there. Her visits were very short and like always in a rush. I requested my records and everything is good now.?
