2nd Trimester

Lots to say...(long)

Maybe I just need a place to ramble off the many thoughts in my head. I could make four different posts, but I instead decided to write one, so I'll try to make it as short as I can.

First, a little AW for me. Tomorrow will be my V day. This is actually very refreshing to me to know that my little boy is strong enough to survive out of the womb.

Second, I've finished my registry and this is another weight off my shoulders. However, my mother wanted us to use my old crib (that she has held on to for 26 years) and I had to let her down by saying that I didn't feel comfortable with my LO being in a crib that was that old. It had lots of safety hazards that are not up to the standards of today, but it still stressed me out to see her feelings hurt.

Third, my LO has moved positions so that he is now laying completely horizontal and therefore has his feet under one side of my pelvis and is head butting the other side. It makes for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

Lastly, my nerves are just about shot with everyone in my office. I would love it if I was here by myself.

  • Congrats on reaching your V day and on finishing your registry!

I would hope your mom would understand that a 26 year old crib is not safe to use today.  Hopefully in a couple days she'll realize it's best to use a new crib and it won't be an issue.

Sorry to hear you're uncomfortable from baby being transverse.  Hopefully the LO will move soon!

I hear ya, I wish I could work from home and avoid having to deal with certain people these days.  ::deep breaths::   :)

  • Congrats on V-day!  Tell your mom it's not safe, but you would trade it in for 20% off at bru.
  • I'm confused - by V day do you mean viable?  because  through the wonders of modern technology they may be able to keep a 24 week old baby alive , I think it would have severe and life long problems , I've always heard 27 - 28 weeks.

I'm sure many different sources site your viability day differently, some may say 27-28 weeks, but many will say that it is 24 weeks now.

Any preemie has the chance of having problems, sure.  Viability just means the baby has a chance of surviving if it were to be born then.  As opposed to if you have the baby prior to that, it will not survive.  That's all it means.  At 24 weeks, the baby has a chance, that's all, so it's nice to reach that point.

  • Congrats on your Vday!

My MIL tried to give me SIL's old crib. It's young at 10 years old compared to your 26 but I was still like uh no thanks. I don't feel comfortable putting my baby in a crib that old. I have no idea what the company that made it is or what the safety standards were. I don't blame you a bit!
