  I like the spelling Dahlia better than Dalyia.  I also love the name Delia, which is similar.

  I agree with pp, I'd stick with Dahlia.  No offense but Dalyia looks like you sounded it out phonetically and don't know the proper spelling.

  I could not figure out how the hell to pronounce it until you spelled it correctly either.

  Go with the real spelling. Getting all 'unique' on your baby's name just makes you look like you are trying too hard. If you love the name, others will love it too if they can pronounce it without feeling awkward or potentially stupid.

  I had a student whose name was Dalia. I think that would be easier to spell without the extra y.
