Nannies and Driving

For those that have a nanny, do you let her drive your children in her own car on her own insurance or do you provide a car for her and put her on your own insurance?

Re: Nannies and Driving

  • When I nannied, I drove the children in my own car. I did prove insurance, but I would say that my relationship with the three families for whom I worked was somewhat casual and comfortable.

  • I don't have a nanny but if I were to use one, I would expect her to use her own vehicle and have her own insurance. I would provide the car seat.

  • I'm a nanny.  I use my own car and own insurance (they've never asked for proof, but I think it's because they are comfortable with me).  Their old nanny gave me a car seat.  They don't pay me for gas which stinks because I drive their child a LOT.

  • When I nannied, I used mom's car for the majority of the driving. Especially because she wanted me to take her LO places so it should be her gas, not mine. But whenever I decided to take him places, we just hopped in my car and drove. (They had an extra car seat for him for my car)
