Prayers for a friend please - Downs

I just visited a friend who had her baby last Wednesday. She had e-mailed that the baby was having a"rough time" and they would be in the hospital longer than expected. I was at the hospital for an appt this am so I stopped by to say hello. After he was born they found out that he has downs. Fortunately his lungs and heart appear fine but he is having a hard time with his jaundice. He was hooked up for a few days for oxygen but was free of tubes when I saw him today. They aren't telling many people about his downs yet until they hear back from all of the tests. They did not know about it before hand. The couple had not originally planned to have children. Her brother has a mental disability and she had always worried that her children would have a disability as well. My heart aches for them and what they will go through for the next few weeks and months. I immediately thought of GreenEyes. I briefly told her what I know of her story and she asked if I had any way to contact her that she would love to hear her information. I will page her on here unless anyone has her e-mail.

They are a very strong family and will do their absolute best with this little baby boy. Prayers that the doctors are able to provide them with answers and help them adjust to parenting with a downs child.

Oh my. Prayers definitely said. I'm sure GreenEyes would be a good person for your friend to talk to, hopefully someone has her contact info. I've had luck paging her before.

SB, I didn't know you knew them too. Elaney told me about them last week (in confidence of course). I have met J a time or two and she seems like a super sweet and strong person. I have been and will continue to keep their family in my prayers. Its good to know that they have such a great support system in their friends!

I'm here, I'm here! I got an email from Pirate which made me log on. I've been a bit distant lately as we've had a ton of doctors appts and just been busy. I would love to talk to your friend. Does she live in the area? Jacob is doing great by the way with all of his medical issues. Only problem now is that they found out that his right hip is out (I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another!) - totally unrelated to the Down Syndrome. Anyway, he has to wear a brace for 3 months but we only have 5 weeks left. I'll post some pics!
