My wife is 25 weeks pregnant. Does anyone know when the baby can hear people speaking? My wife and I are working on taking a few words out of our vocabulary and I was wondering how much longer I could use these words without the baby hearing me?
"Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender."
Jessie Rose was born on 01/26/10 at 37wks, she weighed 7.9lbs and was 19" long!
I've noticed that the bump and baby center do not always agree. According to baby center, you're baby can hear (at least) mom starting at 19 weeks. As someone else posted, the bump says around 16 weeks. So by 25 weeks, baby can definitely hear your voices.
Although baby does not know what the words mean and can not repeat them, now is a good time to start taking certain words out of your vocabulary if that is what you choose. Start a new habit now while you still have time to practice!

This is what is on week 16 here at the bump:

Ditto PP on 21-25 weeks...but DS didn't start "Parroting" until he hit 2...so you've got awhile to practice your "proper" speech!
