A girlfriend of mine is caught in a situation, and I keep trying to steer her in the right direction, but maybe I am not to certain.
This is the situation:
She is due about 2-3 days before me, so around December 3rd. When she conceived she was dealing with her ex boyfriend... She later, had sex with another man she was dating, without protection
, but she said this was March 26th.... If she is due around my due date, she was ovulating between March 9th-about March 15th...So I keep telling her that the father would be her ex, because of the gap, but she is having trouble understand this...because technically, she was already pregnant when she had sex with the other man....
Is this about right?.....![]()
ugh....this is why some need to use a condom.
Re: Help me with this paternity question...
it depends on her cycle.
The only way she'll know for sure is a DNA test when the baby is born.
It sounds like that the baby is the ex's but to be sure there will need to be a paternity test when the baby is born.
Which father believes it is their child at this moment?
BUT.. ovulation can vary. Not every woman ovulates mid-cycle. How long is her cycle? When was her period due that month? It could well be the fling's child if she ovulated late.
doesn't matter. Unless she was charting or was seeing an RE, there's no real way to tell when she ovulated. She could have ovulated late.
Yep. I was a late ovulator with the cycle that I got my BFP (apparently). No way to tell without getting a DNA test.
And yes, you're right...ONE of the reasons women should make men wear condoms.
She has a normal cycle, that she knows...her missed period was March 23rd...so she was already late when she "stepped out"...and the ex is the one who thinks he is the father...I told her to get the test, but based on the dates..I would think the ex is the father...but Im not certain.
This.
I cousin got her period on May 13th. She has sex with her boyfriend unprotected on June 2nd (21 days later). I thought this was way off - but she got pregnant anyway. You never know - only way to find out via a DNA test. Sorry for your girlfriend.
I found a calculator where you can put in your ovulation date. Assuming this date matched the day she had sex with the other man, her due date would be 12/17/09. There is a two week gap, but she could have been easily measuring big and actually have 12/17/09 as her EDD. It's so messy. Paternity testing would really be the only way to know for sure. My guess is that it is the (ex)BF and not this other man, but there are too many factors that could effect it one way or the other.
This. My sister was in a similar situation. Based on her due date, we actually thought it was her current boyfriend, but when the baby came out, it was definitely the ex's.
I forgot to mention she got her BFP on the 28th of March...
Seriously? She thinks the bfp is from a guy she had sex with two days prior?? Unless she is omitting some details, it is not the second guys.
Lol...this is what I said...I told her if she really isnt sure to get the test...but if what she is telling me is the truth..then is should be her exs...I said no one gets a BFP two days after the fact lol...
Well, that changes everything. I was agreeing with the pp's until that. It couldn't possibly be someone she had sex with on 3/26. However, if there's any chance she's lying or 'misremembering' her dates she still might want to get a paternity test.
If she had sex with a guy on March 26th there is no way she could get a BFP on March 28th and be pregnant by the guy she had sex with on the 26th.
I kinda feel like she isnt telling me the whole truth, because when I was talking to her, I was thinking that there should be no question as to who the father is, going by her dates and info...but she is soooo nervous, it kind of makes me wonder if she is being real with me...
The question is really whether her due date was simply based on the date of her last period or based upon an ultrasound that dated the pregnancy. If it's based on her last period, then yes, its completely possible she ovulates late in her cycle and could be pregnant by the other guy. However, if an u/s dated the pregnancy and that is how the doctor determined her due date, then she would ovulated just where you think she did and it seems like her ex would be the baby daddy.
March 28th, so two days after the fling
Has her pregnancy been dated with an u/s? wouldn't that partially answer the conception question to begin with?
Anyways, sounds like the ex, but she should still get a test nonetheless, just in case she got the dates wrong.
If this is true, then you my dear have asked a very silly question. She had sex on 3/26 and a BFP on 3/28 - it's impossible for guy #2 to be the father. You can't get a positive HPT two days after conceiving. (Unless 3/26 wasn't the 1st time she got it on with guy #2 of course)
